My '94 1FZ-FE started acting funky two weeks ago. White smoke was coming from the exhaust so I assumed a head gasket had failed. I pulled the head to replace the gasket and found that cylinder 5 was soaking wet with coolant and my oil has so much coolant in it that it looks like chocolate milk.

Given these issues and the fact that every seal on the engine was leaking, I decided it was time to pull the engine (having a crane is very convenient). Everything has been torn down at this point and I've had everything cleaned up. Upon inspection, I found a crack in the head above cylinder 5.

After reading the forums, I've decided to go with either a good used OEM head that someone has freshened up, or a new OEM head. I'm having trouble finding good sources for these though? In a lot of the forums, people reference other users as being the goto person for this or that but I don't know how to get in touch with these people.

Can anyone point me to a source for a good used head that has been reconditioned? Alternatively, does anyone know of a source for a new OEM head that won't break the bank?

Thanks!

I bought a new head here on the classifieds. There have been a few good deals that have popped up here lately.

Not sure where your located but try local cruiser shops.

Then check Craigslist.

An OEM head is going to be $1200-1400 bare without the valves, springs, cams, etc. So a complete brand new head is going to be probably $2500+

Beno can get everything for you if that is the route you want to go. He is kind of the go to parts guy here. Just email him at:
