All buttoned up on the bottom end, cps, knock sensors and oil level sending unit installed.

Head ready for disassembly and a ton of Super Clean. Head was checked with a straight edge and is FLAT. The valves will be hand lapped all, surfaces cleaned and the head installed sometime in the near future. Got to hurry if we're going to take it to Florida in August.

Valve lapping? That seems a little ancient? Why not just have them reground?
 
Sometimes old school will get the job done just as good if not better. The condition that the valves and seats are in is pretty darn good son lapping will do the trick.
 
Well we are to adjusting the valves and have the shims on order after I was told to go home so Stuart could think!LOL. And then to throw a new dimension to this whole build we went and bought another 80 with a supposed bad motor. Now to decide which one gets the newly rebuilt motor.

Cool 40th. You should be pretty fast at the rebuild by the second time around...
