Remove FJ40 Regulator Window Crank

Is it possible to remove the window crank on the regulator to paint the cover plate?

It might help to know what year you are working with.

I think that they doors are different years. The FJ is a 73, but older hard tip and doors.



























The regulator looks like it is pressed on and I don't see a way to take it off.

Typically a spring clip behind the crank Where it attaches to the shaft.

also, fj40 or 40 or truck or money pit… an fj is something else.

74 and down with wing windows do not have removable crank handles.

1974 Inner door panels

Does anyone know what years of early 40s had inner door panels? I'm in the process of recovering mine and I haven't seen any others on the old style of doors. As far as I know, my July 1974 came stock with them... but I've yet to see any others.

FYI, 1/8" baltic birch or 1/8" door skins are far superior to the original hardboard door skins are made of.
