Just another comparison. Surprised that an 80 series uses larger diameter bolts and larger diameter main tube.

Pic from top to bottom
150 series 4runner/fj/gx 34mm 6lbs
100 series 34mm 7lbs
80 series 43mm 8.4lbs
Bushing is 200 series (larger diameter and width)
200 series is also 34mm

Interesting! So we should look to go to an 80 rica? Is the length the same? And it won’t drop in because the 200 bushing is wider? So it would need some shimming washers in the mount?

Yeah, I don't think we can use these on our 200 series, unless 100 series bushings and shims are used.

This might be an upgrade for 100 series though, as it looks like their bushing will fit into the 80 series link. 100 series is 1/8" shorter than 80 series.

80 series are 1/4 longer than the 200 but since their bushings are 10mm smaller they will flex less?

I’d be curious if upgraded metallurgy allows the 200’s to be smaller and lighter yet stronger. Lots of HSS and UHSS that wasn’t available 30-35 years ago.

Update: These will be back in stock next week.

I'll be out of town from June 20th until July 20th, so get on the list if you need these this summer!

Sweet! When you’re ready send along the Venmo deets

If you are on the fence at all, you should jump in line while you can. These are a great design, amazing machine work, and look like they'll provide both skid and bend protection. I'll give them a test this summer, but from what I've seen, these (plus the trail tailor RLCA mount skids) will be a great addition to my trail armor.

Thanks!

Someone please smash these on a rock and report back on the result with both the armor and the RLCA. :)

Don't forget to tighten that loose RLCA nut! ;)

On no, did I miss tightening a nut? Thanks for telling me!

I'll go recheck them tonight.

PS. In case you are looking at the front bolt/nut - that front bolt is a replacement bolt provided by Jason at Trail Tailor with his lower control arm skids. It doesn't have as much thread exposed as the factory bolts.

Will do, planning on multiple weeks out west and up north, plus local trips. Everything is shiny new now, but won't be by the end of the season. I replaced all my aluminum armor with stainless and haven't had a chance to bash them yet. The aluminum wasn't a good fit for my style of off roading.

Yes, I was referring to the Trail Tailor bolt. Are you saying that there was only about a nut's worth of threads, you tightened the nut as far as it would go, and there was still a gap between the nut and the skid? There was definitely no gap when I installed mine.

Here's the gap (loose nut?) I was referring to in your picture:

Here's what mine looked like:

No gap, and it is as tight as I can get it.

I got my hands on a 300 series RLCA.

1/16-1/8" shorter, same diameter and uses same size bushings as 200.

Skid brace still fits!

Hopefully will fit new Tundra and Sequoia too!
