Another option, since you might be missing the clamps for the connecting rods is to get a zip tie and loop it between the two side connecting rods and cinch it tight enough to engage the latches. Then drop your window into the door fully and see if the tailgate drops at that point. You'll want constant pressure pulling the connecting rods inward since that releases the latches. I think your close.

Also the rods needs to be at the right tension. Too tight or too loose and the handle won’t pull them right and then the star gears don’t exactly release correctly. Sometimes when they are almost correct the almost release and a little tug on the gate will open it. That means they still need to be adjusted. This process will be harder for you as you are caught between having the window up so you can work on the innards. When the windows is up you can’t open the tailgate. So you will need to adjust and try and adjust and try until it works.
I met the most amazing local garage owner just outside of Princeton that through a friend has been amazing at getting the pig in proper shape mechanically. The tailgate will now drop!!!! What can I say but thank you!!! specially, for the working innards that were a huge help. I will pay it forward for sure!
The window goes up and down but it is binding up, I am assuming that means we need to sync the arms and the springs.
Maybe not. If the glass is hanging up in the side felts it will bunch up and bind. Check the side felts before taking everything apart to adjust the arms.
Harvester, if this is for the orange pig you have in the classifieds section I'm guessing this may affect the desired sales price...or maybe it could be spun as a desirable "feature"
We are making progress, everything is back together, and guess what...the drive gear snapped for the window motor. How did I know this was going to happen. Found a few on line and ordered them all...the wife got a new Defender 110...and she needs a recovery vehicle so I need to get the pig wheeling!!
It is...redid the suspension with the OME and 33" wheels and tires. Tide up a bunch of loose ends, doing tie rods now. Getting the tailgate open was a huge victory. Next up is the interior. I am a big guy and I think I really like the bench seats. I am getting ready to order the SOR bench kit. I was hoping to move the mounting point back just a tad.
Congrats on the glass!! After sitting in @riderjgs Ford f150 seats with the shoulder belt incorporated in the seat I purchased some 2006 vintage seats myself. I consider myself full figured and intend on driving my rig on regular basis once I complete her. Safety and comfort definitely trumped the bench seat.

Mine are 2004 F-150 captains chairs. I believe anything 2004 or newer are the same. Installation left enough room to fit a 60 series console between them. Another bonus is adjustable lumbar support.
