Next up on the Fauxverlander build is the ARB rear bumper w/swings. Fitting the 2 park sensors to the front bumper wasn't much effort but the rear looks much tighter. Anyone done it on a bumper with carriers?

One option is to place the sensors in the swings with an extended wiring harness. Not super keen on this but I suppose it's not a game-ender.

Would love some pics of your setups if possible. TIA!

Kurt, Christo told me they do it when I asked about that. There are a couple of threads I found here where folks did it, like

and this thread

I am debating. Christo is working a design and it will incorporate the rear stock receiver. Patience isn't really my strong suit, but that might be worth waiting for. They are still working it so it's done when it's done, but I am expecting this year.

Perfect, don't know how I missed those. That jibes with what I had in my mind. We've done them on the non-carrier model but these are obviously quite different. Thanks!

I'm waiting on Christo for the rear too... If I know Slee...it will make the ARB rear feel like a tin can...

Fwiw I believe this is the Slee prototype:

That looks a little busy to me, but hard to tell. Thinking that was a one-time custom for that green cruiser they have photos of...

From this photo, it looks like the swing-outs are entirely separate from the main bumper...which is GREAT. ARB's seem a little flimsy because part of the bumper surface swings out with the tire. This photo you post looks like the main bumper never moves.

I really like this jerry can mount. -Seems silly that ARB provides space for only a SINGLE can. I would want at least 2...preferably 3..

No matter what, it seems that the 200 available always look like saggy diapers in back...which is why I love the design Willy runs on his. Seems to have far less droop in back.

That was a one off years ago he did for a specific customer. I believe they are coming up with a whole new design.

Anyone know when the @sleeoffroad rear bumper for 200's is gonna hit the market?

Christo Does!

Hopefully he will reply to your comment. I would buy one

Copy that but I'd expect something similar with the higher mount carrier pivot. Knowing Slee, I'm sure it will look great.

Nothing flimsy about the ARB swing or bumper, same design functionality as their 80/100 which has an integrated Class 3 hitch. They use a double sheer hinge mechanism which offers far better longevity. That said a proper single sheer pivot (such as Slee's) are absolutely fine. Google tire carrier failures, plenty of single sheer examples, some other manufactures haven't figured out the material and fab method to make them work.

Absolutely agreed. They can be modified but then you're back into cutting off parts, welding and coating. I plan to modify mine for 2 perhaps 3, I'll have to see how it lines out.

Thanks again for the help guys, after peaking at the bumper a little closer the two middle sensors are going to have to go in the swings. I'll lengthen the harness and make it work. MScruiser had to flip one of the middle sensors to fit in the carrier and after mocking things up we'll be doing the same. He indicated no issue meaning they seem to have a sonar pattern that can be used in two orientations?

I guess "flimsy" was a little harsh...and probably not fair. I'm really referring to the difference in thickness between the Slee rear bumper on my 100 compared with the ARB Sahara bar I had on the front. I was not very impressed with the thickness/rigidity used in the construction of the Sahara bar....but that's probably an unfair comparison, since rear bumpers can be far more stout than fronts without having to worry about air-bag sensors...

And more importantly a front bumper that doesn't crush/fold will result in faster impact deceleration and thus can have an airbag firing at a lower speed an/or cause additional damage. ARB front bumpers are air-bag approved and that requires them to incorporate crush/fold which isn't compatible with thick/rigid. ARB bumpers are not rock-crawling bumpers, then again I don't think the 200's are rock-crawlers :D

OK, here it is from the horses ass. We are fully committed to do a 200 series rear bumper. This is where we are now. The 200 is a bitch to work with due to the high side plastic cladding, but more so the lack of available attachment holes on the back frame pieces. As always, we are not going to put out completion dates until the first batch is being run as production parts. Also no pricing at this point and we are not taking any money or deposits.

We have a ton of items to sort out to do this bumper. We also have a ton of info from customer on what they do and don't like about all our other bumpers that we make, so that will be taken into account as well.

The green truck was 7 years ago and it was a one off. Not sure how much of that will translate to what we are going to do now.

Translation: "It's gonna be a while...so no need to keep calling to ask...BUT...stay tuned!" ;)

My take? -It will be worth the wait.

BTW, Christo...from the looks of the photo...your shop seems to float in a CLOUD?
-Those have to be the all-time whitest, cleanest shop walls ever... Wish my garage was that clean...

So, what you are saying is.... it will fit my LX! Nice!

Thanks for the help guys and reference pics (MScruiser). Mounting the sensors went super smooth and they look nice and clean. I lengthened the harnesses on 3/4 of the park sensors (two had 6-wire and one had 3 wire) and pruned up the Aus spec harness as I didn't want to lose my 7 pin. I'll use a 2->3 trailer converter, same as we've used on red/amber earlier Cruisers. I'll add some pics and other bumper tweaks in my build thread.

Glad I could help, Kurt. I hope everything works out for you. I too tapped into my harness, as I wanted to keep my trailer connector, and I also did not want to fool around with any converter boxes.
