So long story short everything in my front a/c chain has been replaced to new relatively recent. The rear had been capped so I got all new rear lines and a new rear suitcase (I don’t know what it’s called so gimmie a break) but I don’t replace the rear expansion valve which I think is the fail point.

Can I simply lift out the rear assembly and replace that valve? Rear is blowing hot as s***… I doubt the presence of Freon.

Thanks for the input

Anyone?

You have to pull the whole rear evaporator unit to get to the expansion valve. That requires pulling apart a lot of interior side and ceiling trim panels. The bolts holding the valve in place are notorious for breaking too. It's a fairly involved job. I would thoroughly inspect the hardlines going to the rear evaporator before starting and make sure everything holds vacuum overnight before charging the system once finished.

Really..unless you have kids or pets sitting in the 3rd row on a regular basis, fixing the rear AC is not worth the effort.

Rear ac powers the high vents in the second row I believe too

Has anyone replaced the rear expansion valve on their own?
