Nice! You'll love your first gen, every time I drive mine, I just can't help but smile.
I'd like to see a build thread, if you feel saucey enough to elaborate on your project.

Toyota---4Runner---1.jpg

My new to me 1995 4Runner SR5, 171k miles, 3.0 V6 with 5 speed manual transmission. Got it this Christmas for a cooler full of beef.

It needs allot of work, like new springs, ARB bumper, rust holes patched, coolant leak found and patched (radiator is suspect), full tuneup, A/C fixed, new radio and speakers, 4.56 differentials, and selectable lockers. The interior is immaculate. The rear window has already been fixed, it needed a new motor.

I'm planning on it being my off farm daily driver.

Dear All, here some pictures of my Hilux, I bought her some years ago quite standard, at the moment I am replacing the 18R engine for Toyota 3CT diesel so I can travel in Patagonia without burning so much fuel.

1982 Hilux Dual Cab
3Ct engine (installing it, should be ready in 2 or 3 weeks)
5 Speed case
235/85r16 mud terrain
100% rear locked

Before I paint her

I want your truck.!! Real bad! Name your price

This is my 83 Toyota Hilux.
Yodaman built with a clean 22R, and rebuilt L52, stocker Tcase. 30" M/T's I'm going to replace with 30" BFG A/T's when I can afford it.
Front tired stock springs and rears beefed up with 5/8" add-a-leaves that makes me arse skip around over potholes or railroad tracks.
APC racing buckets mated to factory mounts (more or less), JVC head unit, Sony 4" speakers and Oldsmobile 6" speakers that came from a conveniently close-at-hand source:lol: and fit just right between the seats and rear wall.

future plans:
- New Paint
- Mild lift
- Homebrew bumpers
- Earlier headlight assemblies with Roundeyes
- LED's all around
- Sound Dampening
- Twin Sticks

Someday:
- Swap out the 22R/L52 for a 1KZ-TE/R151.
- Marlin adapters to keep the stock T-case instead of the chain-drive.

I call her: "The Mule" 'cause she'll never win a beauty pageant, or a race, but she does what she needs to, and gets me where I need to be.

Wow! Had to look twice at that one. It looks exactly like the truck I gave to a missionary in Haiti. It had the snap buttons on the bed just like yours. I have heard that the truck I gave away made it through the earthquake and is still transporting supplies and spreading the Gospel. Its hard to kill a toyota!!

Thanks for the compliments!
The ironic thing is that The Mule carries a few Gospels about as well - I've got a banana-clip of those little orange Gideon's in the "center console".

These things are impossible to kill! About a month back, I lost it downhill in the rain - Idiot in a Subaru ahead of me just slammed on the brakes with NO warning. I slid out at about 25MPH and slammed into the guard rail. I got out to check the damage, and the only sign was a single nick in the paint above the fender!

I'd love to see someone's reaction as they race out to help, post-crash, and I'm sitting there bawling: "I scratched the paint!". But alas, this is California, the land of "we don't care about the next car over."

This is my 1981 Pickup. I have a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in this one. List of mods include OME lift, Rancho 9000 shocks, ARB front and rear lockers with 4.56's, Ramsey 8000 lb. winch, Marlin Crawler transmission and rear bumper, Weber carb, offy intake, mild camshaft, header, and it rolls on 32" BFG's. Oh yea I sold the piaa lights and now I have 170 HID lightforce lights. :)

some update pics. I bobbed the bed 13", put in a dual transfer case, 2.28+4.7, welded the rear, lengthened the front and shortened the rear drive shafts. Still need to put my rear bumper on, get some sliders, and SAS when I have some "extra" cash just lying around.

I'm kinda new here but have been lurking for awhile after seeing an IH8MUD.com sticker on a Land Cruiser at Stuperlift while up there with my FJ. I've been bitten by the bug and went out and bought me an 87 4Runner SR5 4wd with 5sp. Plans are to do a Chevy spring swap in the rear, SAS in the front with an 83 front axle I have among other things. Here are some pics from the day I bought her.

I have done a few things to her but haven't taken new pics of her yet. Will do so soon and post em. I changed out the wheels for some 34"" TSL's I had at the house, also have done a master cyl. upgrade, newer seats from an 85' Supra and removed the front 5k winch and bull bar.
