>>the green is original IMHO.... you can see in the picture of the missing vader helmet the two colors .... and at the throttle pull where it is warn away the paint exposing the green.

And that would be Judson Green?

Always hard to tell on these computer monitors. Here are the two older color samples I have on file...you can see that even on these two samples, T-453 "looks" slightly different from one card sample to another.

That said, I'd think T-453 Judson Green on the second card looks like the closest match to me

Yes, I thought the same.
Given that there is no reference to Paint color / Trim on the Vin Tag with the vehicle, changing the color would not compromise the originality?
I like 'Spring Green' more so the 'Judson Green' !
In my mind, I am leaning towards the Spring Green with a Tan canvas roof, Black Wheels with the Repro period Hub Caps. :hhmm:
Is there a link/post you guys know of that describes what colors the various parts of a 1965(!) FJ40 Soft Top are painted? e.g. Seat Frames, Door inspection plates etc etc?
Meeting with a few Panel Beaters/Restoration experts pending!

Thanks to you 'Johnny C' and 'My wife said no FJ' Really appreciate your input.

Pretty simple really...on the early 40's most everything was painted body color. You really need to check out Chris's soft top restoration thread...he went Sulfur Yellow on his...and it turned out AMAZING!!

Chris's thread -> https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/459720-moment-truth-coming-near-paint-12.html

And that Youtube link...that is a '65 also.

The front bumper, seat frames, and cluster + glovebox, were pretty much the only things painted pewter, the frame and rims black, the bezel and top off white (check out FJFJFJ's thread...that was the best color "code" I could find for the original white), and running board mats were white, the seats coral, and the rest was pretty much body color....i.e. front fender turn signals, mirrors, gas cap, bumperettes...etc. '65 was the first year with the longer running boards that you have, but here in North America, I believe '65 was also the first year with the heater air intake on the RHD side of the front cowl...I did not see if you had one on yours. Also, '65 was the first year to have the TOYOTA, and 4x4 symbols attached the rear LHD side...1964 only had a TOYOTA sticker on the rear sill.

If you haven't already, take a sec to check out the two links above...they will really help you see what I am trying to say.

Hope this helps!

I personally Like the Judson Green over the Spring Green. Many because I live in the desert but pefer the forest, Mudson Green is a darker forest color. Also in the US market Spring Green was common and Judson Green was rarer.

As for hub cap I wouldn't wait to long to get them. A batch of repo was made but don't think anymore are planned. You should plan on getting a set of wheels while your at it. Hub caps werw not imported to Australia as far as I know. Not sure if your split rims are stock, guessing not. But I believe 16" rims were. Those still wouldn't have had hub cap clips. You find five 16" non split rim wheels And I will trade you six 15" wheels with hub cap clips. Plan B would be to see if Toyota will sell you the later 15" disc brake wheels over there. We can still those here new for around $100 each.

Noted a post from JimC regarding Engine ID numbers to determine date of manufacture.
The number on the Block, underneath the manifolds is 41215.
I assume that determines 15th December, 1964?

Thanks My wife said no FJ! regarding the paint colour of components.

Living in the Past. The Wheels I have are Split Rims. Very Rusty! Probably redeemable but not original fitment, by the sounds of it.
I have enquired at the local Toyota Dealer for 16" steel rims and they aren't available anymore, apparently. Thanks for the offer though.

Found a replacement Toyota Windscreen yesterday.

While the non split 16" rims are no longer available you might get lucky and find a set since they were imported to Australia as the stock wheel. As much as I would like a set if you vound some it would just be cheaper to make and install clips for the hub caps then deal with the cost of shipping.

I picked up a couple of these a few years just in case they became NLA. The box each of them came would probably hold the windshield from the current full size pickup being sold in North America with room to spare. With a bunch of dealers local no shipping involved. From the looks of yours I would say it wasn't in the same type of box. Was this new OEM?

What I couldn't believe was the Wrecker who sent this screen only used Cardboard to wrap it in! The pieces didn't even go to the end of the Glass!
To answer your question: no offer of re-imbursement.
Disappointing experience.

Had a great find just prior to Christmas.
I was trolling through my usual Ebay listings and found this aftermarket Rear Bar. Noted that it had the elusive Dual colour lenses.
Very happy with the purchase! One 'unobtainable' problem solved!
They have both cleaned up really well too.

Yes, the 45 sold. A sad parting but it went to a good home.
The purchaser actually took delivery of it yesterday (East Coast of Australia).
He was pleasantly surprised as to it's condition.

wow those are nice.... make a mold :)

X2 on making a mold. I would be interested in how they compare in size to the one installed on the 64 FJ45 long wheel base pickup. These seem to have a reflector case in the red lens. I think I going to keep my original light housings on my 45 and add a couple of the US market FJ40 reverse lights used from 68 to 72. Just need to decide if I want amber/red or red/red. Both available from SOR, just not cheap.

Not sure how much you paid for the lights with the scrap metal attached but I'm sure it was worth it. Finding parts for fifty year old anything isn't easy. Add into that very few were imported by todays standards and it gets even harder. Nice score.

I was the only Bidder on the Ebay listing.
$150AUS I paid.
I requested that the seller just ship the light assemblies as I wasn't interested in the Bar.
Yes, very happy!
I don't know of anyone who would mould these. ( especially here in Perth).
Any tips on how I can get that gloss finish back to the Lenses? The finish on one in particular is a bit dull.
