About mirrors. In the US market the 68 model was the first year the passenger's side had a mirror. Only the driver's side and top center of the windshield frame had mirrors. The 68 mirrors mounted to the door hinge, earlier to the cowl. Unless a passenger's mirror was a requirement in Australia in the 64/65 range it would only have the one on the driver's side.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, much appreciated!
My 64(?) has a Passenger side Mirror mount, fyi. Reference photo.
Wondering what the hole in the Dash is for?
I assume that the Lens cover for this fixture is as rare as...............

I have a number of early cruisers most have had a second mirror added .Just a matter of drilling a couple of holes. RHD things are different the US not sure what went there. Light switch for under the dash light. Search Darth Vader to see the metal cover for under the dash light. Could post a picture later.

Someone made mention of the fact that Oil Bath Air cleaner denoted a specific Year?
Mine has one.
Are Engine Numbers an indicator of what Year?
FYI, there is definitely no number prior to the Chassis FJ letters.
Just trying to confirm, for the Australian market/model, what the actual Year is?
Seems to be some variables from Market to Market?

I doubt it is. It would not use bullet connectors on a cruiser that old. My 68 has screw terminals. It also wasn't shape like a hex to tighten with a wrench. Would have a plastic knob that screwed on the shaft not a metal knob like this one.

That looks like a revers light or 4WD indicator switch. I have seen some interior lights connected to the 3rd position on the head light switch.( not sure that that is stock) My 64 SWB FJ45 came with this switch.

thanks for posting that tahoe ... i love new information :)

I agree. Never seen one. A mudder was making custom knobs at one time but I believe has since stopped. The wiper switch could be used for the interior and fog light. Just need the custom knobs. I have 62/63/66 FSMs. Need to check the primitive wiring diagrams to se if they address either dash light or fog light.

63 shows the dash light wired to the same post in the light switch that wire from the speedometer lights run to. 66 is the same except it shows it has inline switch. That could be what goes in the hole. Tomorrow I post a picture of the Darrh Vader and switch I dug out today.

I checked my Jan. 65 micro-fiche and it should a switch in the location of the RHD dash. With the longer running boards yours could be a early 65 model. While it didn't list the switch as for the courtesy light don't know of any other general use pull type switch it could be. Factory heater was two speed and mounted below the dash and would have been a option. I only saw the LHD model heater shown on the micro-fiche.:hhmm: Here are the part numbers for the switch and light

84271-60010 switch assy/general use/pull type (includes knob)
84271-60020 knob for general use/pull type switch

81230-60010 courtesy light
90981-12001 12v 8w lamp
Courtesy light was only available complete no breakdown on it.

Pictures of both. This light must have been one I picked up from a junk yard, Think it was from a early seventies FST model when these light were mounted to the dash. Still the same light.
