One thing that has evolved a bit are the seats. I'm putting 76 series seats in the 1995 model 75 troopy. The new seats are very nice. I had new 79 series 1+2 seats in the truck but decided to switch over because a friend here in Dubai had swapped the seats in his brand new 76 station wagon and the price was too attractive to pass up.

But I'm kind of a slob so I knew I wanted covers on them and I found Pakistani 25 oz cotton duck and the upholstery shop I really like whipped up some very nice covers.

Spotted this 30th anniversary edition at Zushi beach today. Just west of Yokosuka, not far from Tokyo... looks like she's seen some good use. Still wearing Blizzaks as we head into the final weeks of Japan's summer beach season, which runs from mid July through the end of August with temporary restaurants set up along the beach.

I have to look up where the seat rails go. I think they must have changed things from the 75 series.

I was at a Toyota internal training event in the PNW a few weeks back. We were there running some of the off-road drive, training and accessory modules. They kicked off each morning in a classroom environment with a presentation by a TMNA about the offroad & overland markets. I was surprised to see this photo as the landing page with my HZJ77 out in the lead. The gent hosting the presentation had no clue, just used some stock photography that Toyota had available.

It turned into a great opportunity to tell everyone how cool the 70 Series is

They kicked off each morning in a classroom environment with a presentation by a TMNA about the offroad & overland markets. I was surprised to see this photo as the landing page with my HZJ77 out in the lead. The gent hosting the presentation had no clue, just used some stock photography that Toyota had available.

Today was a big day! We picked up the Omani 1HD-FT diesel from @cruisermatt, with my son driving me in the diesel pickup which is looking a little tattered these days but is a great daily runner!

Matt had a flock of interesting 70's in the shop today including a bright yellow JDM LC70 with a 1HZ running a slushbox. Stunning color but I failed to take a photo unfortunately. Maybe Matt can add one here. New owner and new purchase with a very clean engine bay.

The Omani got a brand new 105 steering box and pitman arm, a 300mm clutch more appropriate to the characteristics of the 1HD-FT and an oil change and a correction for the rear panhard rod, locking hubs, as well as a few minor service items. I also managed to wrangle a spot on his schedule to do a 1HZ-turbo engine swap on my son's 80 manual early next year using the engine I personally worked on in Dubai that is now sitting in my garage.

The new steering box is SO nice! Truck tracks really nicely now so I can stuff my pipe and light it while holding the steering wheel with my left knee. Very important! Before the dang thing wandered something awful. Matt's guys swapped wheels with another 80 and said the steering was even better with different tires, but I like my Khumos.
