These guys are die hard Landcruiser guys and so they might make an exception. It might be worth a call so you can get all the line lengths and bends figured out. Last time I was there they even had a modified Fj40 with 4 doors.

Just went to their site and saw that they have 3 of the 5 trucks i need. Nashville to Salt Lake City may be a bit far to only get 3. I'll still consider it though. There may be a private owner around somewhere that has a few and be a bit closer.

Oh Cruiser owners extraordinaire,

I'm really enjoying making these lines for you all even though it's a real challenge. As I've said before, I love a challenge. One thing I have not addressed yet is the fact that creating kits for FJ40 that have axle swaps, and MC swaps, and Booster swaps, and rear disc conversion... That takes extra time here discussing, messaging, researching, and such. I'm going to have to start adding a surcharge for this just to help cover some of the time. Who knows, maybe I'll end up making all the possible conversion combinations and it will be easier. Maybe not. Anyway, does a 20% fee sound reasonable to you all? I will not be adding this charge to those I already have orders from. I don't feel it's right to shock you with that.

Your opinion matters. Since this part of the Mud forum is a little slow, I will start adding that as soon as i can get it up on my site. But please, as usual, comment here.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Research time:

Who wants to volunteer their truck for pattern research and receive free Rainman's Brake Lines? If you can send me (or if you're local to Middle Tennessee I can meet you) your lines that I need in good condition, I'll make a trade.

I'm going to try and have complete sets of patterns for FJ40s, FJ55s, FJ60/62s, and possibly the 70 series. Oh, and Mini Trucks. I'm not sure which years for the pick ups yet.

FJ40 patterns:
I only need the two long lines that run on the firewall from the master cylinder. From 8/80 to '84.

FJ55 patterns:
I am very confident that I have the axle lines because they are duplicates of the FJ40 lines. The lines I need are the ones from the MC down to the frame or flex hoses. There are 4 time periods with different lines that match the FJ40s. '68-6/70, 7/70-8/71, 9/71-8/75, and 9/75-80.
Anyone who can ship me "accurate" lines will get those lines replaced with free Rainman's Brake Lines.

The 70 series:
I don't have access to diagrams yet for what those trucks need or when any changes were made. I can only work on what I can get shipped here at this time.

The 60/62 series:
I'm in the works dealing with someone on these but haven't come up with a time frame yet.

Mini Trucks:
Same here. Communication has been slow lately so I'm not sure when this will take off.

I'm very serious about this! Post or PM me if you're interested.

It appears that 26 of the FJ40 patterns that I have will fit the FJ55s.
The 4 chassis lines are diagramed as the same but almost certainly are longer, They most likely have the same bends at either end.
It looks like only 9 or 10 lines are unique to the FJ55s over the 12 year production period.

I'm hoping that in the year 2018, I will be able to add new models of Totoyas to the list of brake line kits.Check here for potential updates of what's available.

First up are the FJ55 Land Cruisers. I need volunteer trucks for patterns. If you supply a clean version that gets me the right pattern, you get the new line free. It's that simple. As you can see below, I need the lines under the hood. Toyota shows the chassis line as the same with the FJ40s. They MUST be longer though. So I need measurements and some photos.

It's official.

Thousands of brake line nuts have been ordered from China. They're using my specifications on both the m9 and m10 nuts. No more searching around... No more getting stupid over priced quotes... Just the right stinking' nuts for the job. Now, if they were just down the block but since they aren't, it'll be a good month or so.

Good news.

My 2 cents. I received all the front brake lines for my stock '82 FJ40 (2.5 OME lift). They came well boxed and looking great. Once I wrestled the old lines off, the new lines went on in about 30 minutes total. Perfect fit, no drips, and they look good. I reused all of my original clips and brackets and had no problems.

I am sending Rainman the F2F and F2R off my truck today, so he can make me some shiny new ones. They were working fine, but the new ones look so good, I have to get all the rest done now.
Thanks Rainey!

They're in!

I just received a pair of firewall lines for the 79-84 FJ40s. FINALLY!!! It will take a few days to schedule in making the two master lines and figuring out what exactly it will look like. The slight wiggles here and there (common to every line I've received) have to be figured out and if and where a union may be needed. But:

ALL LINES ARE COVERED FOR FJ40s!

Never ceases to amaze me how often I get a new wrinkle found in all the brake lines for the Toyotas.

I get a customer who is new to the Cruisers so lack of some information in this story isn't his fault. (He just didn't know) He orders a set for his Frankentruck and needs a mix. No problem, that's very common. Assuming his rear axle is a late model in his '63 FJ40, he orders a mix with later rear lines. Only to find when the lines get there that the long line isn't even close to fitting. The rear axle has a center diff. So he sends me the dead lines for me to copy. Late in the game we then find out that the '63 Cruiser originally had a centered rear diff. E to (some time in) '64 to be exact. Why doesn't Spector's diagrams show that? Oh well, that just means I now have two new lines for the Cruisers. REALLY early rear axle short and long lines.

I know I have posted before about the quality of these lines and fit, but I just got in the new '79 to '84 lines for the rest of my rig.
And they are impressive. I snapped a few pics of the superb quality box and packing, as well as the labeling and instruction booklet. Top notch all the way. See for yourself. Thanks Rainman!

Rainman,

Sent a request through your site on Monday. Looking for a complete set of lines for my stock 77 FJ40.

Thanks

@fjinva , nothing better to make your day than a happy customer... Unless they're willing to tell everyone else how happy they are and then... THAT'S even BETTER. Thanks for the nice words.

The last week or so has been a whirlwind of Rainman"s Brake Lines activity. After a little slow spell. Some of you may have noticed a slow response. Please forgive me. I'm working on a new... well, something's come up that's taking up some of my time. AS some of you know, I've been a commercial illustrator for my career since the mid '80s and something's come up and grabbed my attention.
This.
Will.
Not.
Close Rainman"s Brake Lines.

I'll let you all in on the secret in a week or two... or three. It's an awesome development for me. @adistler1 knows and @oldschool4wheeling knows and @Vae Victus but they're close buddies and live near by.
