If I didn't have my granddaughter with me to get ice cream, I would probably have chased it down to have a better look!
Wimp!!!!

SPOTTED!!!
Just saw brand new Landcruiser yesterday when picking up my granddaughter from school!
Waiting to turn left from my street and it did a left turn onto my street. I had to do a double take 'cause I couldn't believe my eyes!
I quickly caught a glimpse of the grill to see if it was a GX or LC, and it had the Toyota badge. It was silver/gray or whatever they call it with the rectangle headlights, so it wasn't the heritage edition.

Caught me completely off guard and obviously no time to get my phone out for a picture.
Have to admit it was very cool looking. 😍
Okay, my bad.
I saw that vehicle again today and it was at my granddaughters school while I was waiting to pick her up.
Got out and walked to it. Went around to the back, and dog-gone if it wasn't a brand new Sequoia!
The fenders and lines look just like the new GX/LC, but without a comparison, I couldn't tell size differences, which I know the Sequoia is larger.
Sorry guys for all the hype.

Does anyone have a way to fix, repair or cover just the leather part of the steering wheel when it starts to wear?
I really don't want to cover the entire steering wheel as I like the wood look and feel and to replace it is 4 digits ($$$$).

You could try these guys - I think they are around $300 but will require the rig to be down while the wheel is shipped. if you do use them let us know how it goes! Mine has a half-assed re-dye that will need to be re-done to look and feel better. You might also have a local shop who could do the work.

I also like the look/feel of the wood wheel. There are eBay replacement wheels from China (at least for a 470) but they seem like a gamble. The OEM Lexus wheels are just so nice to start with.

Yeah, I've looked on eBay, but there were only a couple for 460's and couldn't find the same color.
I may also look at wrecking yards. The only problem with that is, GX's, because of how few are made, aren't like Tacoma's or 4R's and finding a wrecked one with a matching color steering wheel AND also being a Premium edition, well let's just say I would probably have better luck going out and purchasing some lottery tickets.

Just checked out Craft Customs and they look pretty darned good! Only thing I noticed aside from not having any 460's, which I just assume have not had to do one yet, is that none of the steering wheels have the thumb rest. Not sure if any of them came withe thumb rusts or if they remove them to make it easier for stitching the new cover?

Aha this makes sense. If I have another kid I’ll be a sequoia dad for sure! They look great.
Also I’m kinda mad at you. Making me think about my wearing steering wheel 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh well, guess it’s better for me to watch you figure this out and then I can just follow your lead. Thanks in advance.

Bummer dude! Guess I'm semi lucky with having a black interior.

What you have pictured here is EXACTLY where my started last year... Left hand side of the steering wheel near the top, next to the wood. Just a little rubbed off spot.

I ran into this same problem in my 470 with the "sandalwood" interior. Ebay had a bunch of options for the 470 (120 and 200 series wheels), but they were never an exact match on the color so I never pulled the trigger. Maybe call an interior shop and see if they can refurb with new leather to match.

Yeah, unless you have a black interior, color match can be such a pain in the butt, and I'm kind anal about that.
I'd only do a different color if it was a contrasting color match, example, I have the Ecru interior, but the carpets and hard plastic are more brown, I'd be able to do that same color brown for the steering wheel, but it would have to match or be pretty close in color not to bother me.

That's the same boat I was in. Super OCD when it comes to that kind of stuff. I was considering buying a black wheel, air bag, controls, and column plastic, but I ended up getting rid of my 470 for the 460 before it came to that. I purposely bought a black interior (in Texas) because I didn't want to deal with matching the brown again haha.

There was a company that sold refurbished Toyota steering wheels and their website promised exact matches. B&M or something like that. I emailed them a while back through their website, but they never responded. I can't find the company by googling, so maybe they went out of business.

I just spoke with these guys: Craft Customs: Steering Wheel Restoration and Customization - https://craftcustoms.com/
They don't show any GX460 steering wheels, or any GX's for that matter, She said it's not a problem doing them.
BUT.... They do not have Ecru color, they would have to order that color leather.
So the price is $349.00 if you don't have or need the Ecru color.
$549.00 if want Ecru, they have to order that color leather.
Here's another BUT... If several people were to get their wheels done WITH the Ecru color, that $549.00 price would come down.
Also, it's about a 3 week turn-around.
During the wait, you'll need a really good pair of vice grips, clamp down on that steering shaft and use that to drive with!
One last note, the customer service lady (sounded like one of the original employees) I spoke with was nice, seemed very customer conscious and willing to work with you.

Thank you for calling...honestly $350 ain't a bad deal compared to the eBay wheels which are $300 and of questionable Chinese quality relative to the OEM Lexus wheel. Three-week TAT is a bit rough, I want to use them on my 470 but don't know when I can have it off the road for that long! If you go with them let us know how it turns out.

These guys are in Texas. Can't get more American than that!

Posting this for MrTorgue. He asked if I could measure from the bottom door sill down to the cut line for the rock sliders.
This will provide an idea of how much to cut, even before purchasing rock sliders, or if you just want to lessen the chance of buckling the running boards.
The dimension that I got was 1.25" from the bottom of the door sill. It's kind of hard to see in the photos because my rock sliders angle upward so I can't really get a perfect straight on photo of the measurement. Also I have black piping running along the bottom edge of the cut so the tape measure is actually measuring from that point, which doesn't show up that well.

Much appreciated.

Found this article on a comparison of the new '24 LC and GX.

To give an idea of the out going GX compared to the new one:

Would still rather have the old man GX460.

I would be OK with a J250 Land Cruiser to Daily and turn the GX into a trail rig
