~30K on my Ironman FCPs and they are going as strong as Day 1. I use them hard towing.

Icons do ride better on pavement IMO. Ironmans ride great on rough unpaved roads and can be rebuilt at home. But you will miss that Icon plushness on your local streets.
Good to know!
Is there a recommended rebuild after "X" number of miles for the Ironman FCP's? I couldn't find any type of maintenance schedule for them like there is for the Icons.

I don't think the Ironman FCPs have a dedicated maintenance cycle. They are a much less "fussy" shock than a set of Icons since they don't use pressurized gas, they have rubber bushings instead of heim joints, etc. They weigh probably 2X as much a set if Icons too - super beefy 2.8" shocks with a steel body.

For mine personally I'll just rebuild them when the back starts getting a bit bouncy. I'll be pretty happy if I get 50-60K out of them prior to a rebuild and ecstatic if they make it to 70K. Riding in my buddy's Tundra did make me want a set if Icons for a bit, until I read your tread and remembered that I bought the FCP shocks specifically for the long service intervals :).

FYI, I have a spare set of front FCP shocks. Ironman did a warranty replacement on my front coilovers as the springs were contacting the shock body (and I had bought assembled coilovers) and let me keep the old ones. They new coilovers have a shorter spring - apparently this was a common problem they rectified. I'd be happy to sell you the front shocks (they would need new springs) and I am pretty sure they'll bolt in your 460. PM me if you are interested.

Thank you for the offer, but I've already pulled the trigger on the rebuild and I'm short on time since we have a week long camping trip coming up in a week and a half.

Be our test dummy on using 8112s ;P.

I really like my accutune fox 2.5s, but I have a bit of buyers remorse considering the 8112s and my very mild amount of lift (2" front, 1" rear)

Just got back from 7 days at Huntington Lake (no, not Huntington Beach on the coast) in the Sierra's at about 7,000 ft elevation.
We did this trip just 4 weeks after I had a full knee replacement. I told the surgeon I was going on this trip and my goals were to be able to climb into the roof top tent and do a specific 2 mile hike to a water fall (Rancheria Falls).
Goals accomplished! Along with a lot more hiking and water time!

We had a lot of family up there with several sail boats and Seadoo's, paddle boards and kayaks, inner-tubes and other inflatables.
As much as I love sailing, and have done it most of my life, I wasn't able to get out this year because of the knee replacement. Although I can walk and climb, I can't be on my knees yet and when sailing a Hobie Cat or small mono hull, one is always scrambling around on their knees.

Tomorrow my wife and I are on another road trip, this time to the PNW (Washington specifically).
We will be in the area of Port Orchard, WA and Bainbridge Island, WA.
I'm mentioning this so if there is anyone up there (Acrad, Washingtontaco??) that wouldn't mind me dropping by for a half hour or so to put a face to the rig, swap a few lies and have a chuckle, let me know.
We'll be up there visiting family so I can't travel too far for the visit, but if you're close, let me know and I'll see if we can stop by for a short visit.
PM me if you're interested and anywhere near the locations above.

SOLD! Gone, you're too late.
I'm selling my Whynter FM-8TBG portable fridge AND transit bag (goes over the fridge to help save energy.
Like new! This thing works great!! 👍
Local pickup only. Orange County, CA.
PM me if you have any questions.

Bump.
No one local (So Cal) needs a great fridge and cover!
All I'm hearing is crickets... :(

Finally got around to fixing the rear view camera.
I thought it was a disconnection of the factory wire to my extension wire in the rear door panel and removed the entire rear door panel. Wasn't the problem.
Chasing down the wire to the camera, when I removed the shrink tubing around the 4 pin connector I used, and found one of the pins was broken off.
Had to use two new 4 pin connectors, solder the pins to the very small and fragile wires of the camera and "Prest-O, Change-O", it worked! Just had to reassemble.
Note to self: when using a heat gun for shrinking tubing, don't have it so hot that it melts and deforms the plastic 4 pin connector. I had to redo the connector again because of having the heat gun too hot. I forgot I had the heat gun at a higher temp for another project.
Nice to have that rear view camera back! With the spare and jerry can's back there I have very little view and without the camera, have to rely on the "Beep-Beep" sensors to let me know just how close I'm getting to something back there.

Oops, totally a mistake I would make.

Just got back from another weekend camping, this time up in our local mountains with our off road club (mostly Jeeps).
Our club just adopted another trail, 2NO6X up in the San Bernardino National Forest so this was our inaugural run for that trail.

Tried rotating this photo but it won't upload in portrait on MUD...

Just pulled the trigger on a cell phone booster.
The manufacturer is Fustar (Huh?? Who are they?) Okay, never heard of them, nor can I find a Fustar website.
But for $145.00 and a 4.5 star rating with 41 Amazon raters chiming in, what the heck, I'll try it out.
It does say it has a 65 db gain:

This last trip up to Huntington Lake in the Sierra's, we had marginal to no cell service for a week. I know I shouldn't be so attached to my phone, but I do like catching up on news every other day or so and if there's an emergency, I really like the idea being able to get out a 911 call.
So everything I've been able to research about this product seems legit with pretty high marks.
After I install it I'll post how it works.
I plan on installing it on my "house" battery so it's on without the need to have the ignition on. It does come with a "sleep" mode when not used. I'm going to add an on/off switch so I can see how much boost I get when turning it on in the middle of nowhere.

I just received the Fustar mobile cell phone booster and did a quick install just to see if it worked.
I saved the box and all the packaging... just in case. I'm a little skeptical about its claims.
So the below photos is the unboxing. Pretty simple and I was surprised there was no foam cutout inserts for each of the components.
Everything was just in the box, no foam cutouts or protection. The only thing that had any protection was the booster itself. It was in a bubble pack bag as seen in the photo, everything else just flopped and bounced about.

So I get it all wired up and plugged in.
Since I live so close to the beach our cell service (and cable) service really sucks. We get 1 many 2 bars so we have to use wi-fi calling on my phone all the time or we'll drop calls or have a really bad connection.
I'm in my driveway and disconnect wi-fi and wi-fi calling from my phone and the is what I get.

The below photo is after I turned it on. It took about 15 - 20 seconds to get to this strength.

One thing I did forget was I wanted to do an Ookla Speed Test, but forgot.
I'll post some speed tests later. If this does pan out I'll be redoing the install to be a little more permanent, tucking all the wires and mounting it a little better.
So, long story, short, so far I'm pretty impressed for an Amazon price of $145.00!

Went back into my vehicle and did some data and phone tests.
Phone test:
  • Without Fustar I called my daughter who has a great signal where she lives and I was sounding very choppy, but the call did go through.
  • With Fustar again called my daughter and the call was very crisp and clear. She couldn't tell if I was using the booster or just in a place with a good signal.
Data test:
Texted my daughter with Fustar and she received the text within a minute and replied.
Did Ookla Speed test and below are the results. This was disapointing, but not sure why. I may have to do some more testing.
Below is without Fustar boost:

Below is WITH Fustar boost:
Screenshot_20230913_095704_Speedtest.webp

As you can see, data was considerably slower and I can't figure out why.
As mentioned, I'll need to do some more testing. But at least phone reception and texting were greatly increased! For me if I were to a phone/texting connection or just data, I'll take a better phone connection.

SPOTTED!!!
Just saw brand new Landcruiser yesterday when picking up my granddaughter from school!
Waiting to turn left from my street and it did a left turn onto my street. I had to do a double take 'cause I couldn't believe my eyes!
I quickly caught a glimpse of the grill to see if it was a GX or LC, and it had the Toyota badge. It was silver/gray or whatever they call it with the rectangle headlights, so it wasn't the heritage edition.
If I didn't have my granddaughter with me to get ice cream, I would probably have chased it down to have a better look!
Caught me completely off guard and obviously no time to get my phone out for a picture.
Have to admit it was very cool looking. 😍
