1. Are there any sources for complete JIS bolt kits other than Overland? Their website says they are sold out of silver zinc and I have not heard back from them about future availability.

2. What is the equivalent US grade to the JIS bolts on an FJ40? Is it grade 8? Are there a range of "grades" to the JIS bolts? Are there any critical bolts where for example a higher grade bolt should be used on an FJ?

3. I am considering "blacking out" the trim hardware on my truck (hinges, hood latch, etc). How are people who have done that making their bolts black? Is there a source for JIS black oxide bolts?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Many of the original fasteners are available from Toyota, I get mine from Orisman in Richmond. Some are substituted now and some unique ones (like slotted hex head) are NLA. I put together a spreadsheet of all the part numbers for my 10/72.

Probably not the least expensive but they are OEM.

That's good to know, thank you. My first preference is JIS and if they are available from Toyota that's great.

Bel-Metric has a good selection of JIS nuts, bolts, and washers:

McMaster Carr also carries JIS and they specifiy the strength on all of their fasteners. JIS apparently is more an industry standard on sizing and not on strength. There are strength designations with number or markings on some JIS bolts and nuts but apparently it's not a uniform standard (like ANSI or DIN) and varies by manufacturer. Here's a link to their JIS bolts:

I just started a spread sheet, first page is the list broken out by area (doors, hood, back hatch, etc) then cut and paste the diagram from the epc on to a separate sheet.
@Coolerman did something similar a few years ago. There is a spreadsheet in his signature line but it wouldn't come up for me. Here's the PDF version:

And here is the thread from the FAQ that started the effort:

Bel metric and one of these.
