Question on mounting dash pad light (1 Viewer)

I have a new dash pad from fj40dash.com and I purchased a dash pad light off of eBay.

Does the light install under the pad and attach to the metal strip that goes inside the pad

Or,

Light attached to the underside of the pad (after I cut a hole in the pad for the housing to go I to)

Here is a pic of mine. I took an exacto knife and carefully cut out the area. Note, there are two metal tabs in the hole for the dash light attachment.

FYI - being you have the dash pad light in hand, if you haven't already done this, install an LED light in it. Here is what my dash looks like at night, not over-powering. I think I used these > click here <.

May also want to look at this LED light some have used.
