No problem. If a cheap set shows up on CL around you in GA I might ask for your help to procure them ;)

If he gets back to me trying to get me to wire money I'll let you know. Aside from the cheaper fees I was asking about paypal because they offer at least some buyer protection. Again I haven't heard back yet so he may be sitting on my email in case you don't come through.

Thanks! He is at work now and will be calling me later today.

If you use the Toyota recommended LT285/70-17 tires, they are plug and play on stock 200 series Land Cruisers ... Toyota says so:

You don't need spacers or any machining, but be sure you also get the required lug nuts - stock lug nuts for the OEM alloy wheels will not work.

Bringing this old post BTT...

I've read and searched everywhere. Looking for info on these RW wheels, since I have 4 and just bought a 5th. Is this entire 12 page document available somewhere? Questions I have:

What is the recommended torque on the T30 Torx fasteners that hold the rings on?

Is it OK to use my cordless impact driver on them, then set final torque with a wrench?

Do they need thread lock?

What is the recommended torque for the splined lug nuts?

I did find the special socket for the splined lug nuts in the truck, but its kinda beat up, I wanna get a spare. Can anyone confirm that it is McGard #65302? Mine has no numbers stamped in it, but it does say McGard.

The RW wheel I just bought doesn't have a TPMS sensor. I don't want to pull the sensor out of my current spare, I may eventually get a second set of rims and snows for the winter, keep the RWs out of the salt. Anybody find a good quality aftermarket sensor?

Thank you!

Here's a link to the entire doc:https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/ins...er TRD Alloy Wheel PTR45-34070-34120 IssF.pdf

You should find answers to most of your questions in the doc.

I cannot confirm the McGard part# you cited, but all you should have to do is measure the one you have to determine whether it is 1" or 22MM and then order the appropriate part - the manufacturer is McGard. I think you want the 22mm Hex size, but better to check.

I don't use TPMS sensors in my RW wheels, so I can't help you there, but whatever sensors you buy they should be compatible with the Toyota Part Number shown on the first page of the doc.

Do you happen to know the load rating of these wheels and if you know, where you found it? I don't see it in the document or on the wheels.

I don't know the Load Rating for these wheels. All I know is Toyota recommends them for use on a stock LC200.

Do you end up with a TPMS light if you don’t run them with the RW’s?

The TPMS will light up soon after it doesn't detect the sensors. On the LX, the TPMS light is at the bottom of the cluster and easily covered up.

Next tire change I'll go from high pressure brass/rubber valve stems to all metal stems with a thin coat of anti seize compound.

Yes. The TPMS light will blink for a minute or two and then stay on. No beeping, and easily ignored.

So my spare showed up today, making plans to have a new tire installed and road force balanced at the local dealer. Waiting on a price now for buying the tire from them or just ordering from Tirerack.com.

How important is it that the ring be removed to install the tire, as it says in the instruction document? Should I just go ahead and remove it, or should the tire be balanced with the ring installed? Can I trust the dealer to remove and reinstall the ring correctly?

Well ... I'm sure many will say it is not important at all, but in the instruction doc it has a RED STOP SIGN and IMPORTANT! in Bold where it says to remove the ring before mounting the tire - use your own judgement.

If it were me, I'd print out the instruction doc and bring it with you to the dealer. Tell them that's the way you want it done. Also, be sure they read the part about using stick-on weghts on the outboard inside of the rim and clip-on weights on the inboard wheel rim - just like in the instructions.

Good luck.

Anyone have experience with black lug nuts that work well on RWs?

Mine are coming back from powder coating and I'm trying to avoid buying 3 sets before finding one that works.

Thanks!

Thank you, this is very helpful.

RW wheels can use the same TPMS sensors from your stock wheels. Just have them transfer. Discount tire charges about $7 per wheel to repack them.

About the ring screws... They do not have a critical function, but they do tend to loosen/fall out. Apply locktite and check them periodically. I just hand tighten mine, occasionally checking for loose screws...which I do find regularly.

PS. The shop does NOT need to remove the rings for tire install.

I was told by an auto instructor to balance new tires, but to hold off on road balancing until the tire had been on the car/truck for a few weeks. He claimed this allowed for any flat spots from storage to be worked out, belts, beds and whatver to settle, etc.

Have absolutely no idea if he knew the facts or if this was mechanics folklore.

"Road balancing?"

The Tundra the RWs are going on came with steel wheels..thus 40 degree sensors (42607-0C080).
So I needed to buy 4 new 20 degree sensors. Just shy of $60 a piece, yay.
If anyone is in the same boat the part number is: 42607-0C050

I have a call in to Slee about black lug nuts.

Will post what I find out.

The 42607-0C050 are the 20* TPMS sensors for 2007-2010 Tundra/Sequoia.

The part number for the 20* sensors for the Land Cruiser is 42607-33011.

My dealer says the 42607-33011 was the correct number for when they were listed as an optional wheel on the 200. But then goes on to say one should use the TPMS that matches the year of the vehicle (as long as it's a 20 degree sensor). Something about new model sensors auto configuring position on the dash display when tires are rotated. I honestly have no idea if I'm being sold a load of BS or if they really know their stuff for this sort of thing. In my case it's a 2017, so they ordered in five of 42607-48010. Appointment to mount and balance five KO2 on the RWs tomorrow at 7 AM. Guess I'll find out if the newer TPMS works and will post back results.
