Question about rock warrior wheels

I'm probably just going to pay retail on some new rw wheels.

Damn that's a nice find. Unfortunately I'm not in the states right now. Would have to work out shipping and remote payment (which sounds sketchy in cl). I still have some time to make up my mind. Thanks for looking out!

Sorry, I have no idea. I dream of 200s, drive 4runner and FJ40. Just trolling craigslist for stuff I want.

Then just so you know, they will not fit on the OP's stock LC200. The correct tire size for those RW wheels is LT285/70-17 for use on Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser.

Is it really true that the 17" RW's are no longer available from dealers?

Yes that's correct. Back in August when I bought my 200 there were ~85 Rock Warrior wheels left at dealers across the US since they're not in production anymore. I'm sure that number has since decreased, and if I understand correctly those dealers are also asking for a Rock Warrior trim package truck's VIN in order to buy them at ~$350-400 a piece, which is also ridiculous.

Keep the faith - I bought two sets off Craigslist locally, and after all was said and done I mounted 4, put the 5th under the truck with a 5th KO2 on it, and kept a 6th as a hot spare in case I mangle a wheel in the future, and sold the other two to folks like myself that had a set of 4 and wanted a spare. My costs after all was said and done was ~$100 a wheel. Just get ready to move on a set when they appear!

As a recent Rock Warrior Owner I can't say enough good things about them and BFG KO2 tires. They are a truly amazing combination and transforms the LC from soccer mom sequioa look to manly machine and improving traction in most conditions. Same time it does lose ~1.5 mpg if you are heavy on the pedal like I am. Someone else mentioned that it looks better on the LC then it ever did on the Tundra, I fully agree. I was very worried of ruining the stock look of the LC but after putting them on I have no regrets.

I also bought 5 extra RW wheels for my second 200 when it comes.

How'd you nab so many RW wheels? I'm really hoping to find some for myself. I have a few months before i really need them. If I don't find a local Craigslist deal then I'll just buy new online

Just watch CL around the country. I too found a set for my LC for $500 then a single one for $50, and another single for $100. For a while, I was checking CL multiple times a day until I found the smoking deal. There's almost always one or two sets in the SoCal area for $1000+ with tires mounted.

I found them both locally off craigslist, one in chicago and one in milwaukee. There is a third set available but he wants $760 and he has some weird size tire on them.

What was your smoking deal? Mine was $500 with KO's on them with 40k miles. I love the KO2's over the KO's. Mine was tires, wheels and TRD caps but no hardware. The lug nuts with spline adapters ran me an extra $170.

I have the accessories brochure that came with my 2009 LC, it list the 17" Rock Warrior as an option. I understand the dealers holding onto them as spares for existing TRD Tundra's, but they were available on the 200 as well.

I have no idea what availability of the Rock Warriors would be in Norway, but here in the sates they are somewhat common and pop up on CL from time to time for a reasonable price. Good luck in your hunt.

Yes, the 17" RW wheels were available as a dealer option on the Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser.

Consumer option of TRD specific parts are always available and can be installed by the dealer or owner when purchasing a Toyota assuming the said parts will work on your model vehicle. In this case, the 17" RW wheels were an option for the Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser. But, the '08-'13 model years Tundra was the only model of the three offered with the Rock Warrior factory spec'd and trimmed package. From the Toyota website:

  • (RK) TRD Rock Warrior Package (Tundra Grade 4x4 only) includes 17-in. split 6-spoke, gunmetal-color-finished, TRD Rock Warrior forged alloy wheels with LT285/70R17 BFGoodrich® All-Terrain T/A tires, Bilstein® shock absorbers, fuel tank skid plates, color-keyed front bumper and grille surround, matte black rear bumper, fog lights, sliding rear window with privacy glass (Double Cabonly), front bucket seats with 8-way adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat and black fabric-trimmed seating surfaces, TRD Rock Warrior graphics. Requires auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and HomeLink®' [12] universal transceiver. Integrated backup camera [7] display included in either rearview mirror or available Display Navigation [5] with Entune® [6]. After the RW edition Tundra was discontinued in the '13 model year (the Tundra was redesigned with a new exterior in "14 model year and in '15 they came out with the PRO trimmed model), Toyota or TRD or both limited the purchase of the RW wheels to RW spec'd Tundra owners with the factory trim VIN's only.

As stated numerous times above, in the US, RW wheels show up on Craig's List and eBay all the time as people with RW spec'd Tundra's swap them out with other aftermarket wheels.

I'm moving back to the states in January so I'm currently looking on CL back home to find a set. I didn't even think to look on Finn.no here for a set maybe I'll check that out. You don't see many 200s here. Mostly prados.

Just found a local set. Guy wants 800 without wheels. One has some sort of stain..

Good deal, or WAIT?
