What kind of tach do you have set up on this?
its a basic bosch tachometer. its not very accurate ...at idle i'm typically in the range of 600-750 RPM, but the gauge shows it above 1000+ RPM. I know I set it up for 6-cylinder, but maybe I should check the settings again. It serves mainly as a guide; I prefer to listen to the engine.

So one last project before it goes on the market...

I always wanted to fix the original seats. When I purchased the FJ45, it came with this beige covered seats; which were quite dirty. Also the sliding mechanism did not work. It was impossible to slide the driver's seat.

After removing the fabric covers, the original seat covers were pretty good, except, drivers side was ripped. I made some new seat covers using the old beige seat covers as a guide.

Thought this was the perfect time to clean / re-paint the seat mounting track and get the sliding mechanism working again. I was able to remove the sliding track from the seats, but was not able to separate the inner slider from the C-channel. I washed / de-greased it, but it still does not move.

I tried to force it out using a mallet; but was not sure if that was the right approach. I did not want to screw it up. Any suggestions to make it move easier?

Your original seat covers (GCC countries version) DO have character!

Trying to get out 40 years of grease & dirt out of the seat sliders.

in a bath of WD40+Engine Gunk+Dawn. Hope this would clean it out.

But still unsure how to get it moving? Was thinking of using squeezing a tube of grease into the slider then hammering it with a mallet to move. Alternatively, maybe some heat would be good too; like a rusted bolt. Has anyone does this? Need some advise please.

Well, writing the final chapter in this saga...

The Beast is gone...to a new home in Vancouver Island. 🇨🇦. It's the new owners first FJ and super excited. He already has plans; so that's a good sign.

When I bought it 10 years ago, I had no clue what I was doing....and some would say I still don't. I bought it cause I always wanted one and was looking for an adventure; there was absolutely nothing to do in Qatar. Also it really annoyed my wife, so that was a win!. Just driving it around Qatar, on the job site, in the desert, and on the beach was an absolute adventure; and peoples reactions / smiles / thumb's up . I once got stopped by the Qatar police, lights flashing, to have to very politely refuse an offer!!

For me, it was the process of researching issues, finding parts, and how to execute various repairs was a healthy / learning experience. Nothing would have been possible without the IH8MUD community. Thanks for all your support / guidance.

Oh well, now its time to work on the "Mistress"; she needs some TLC....
