is that red/white chop top going to the scrap or getting savd?

Hobbs, you said you have a sagenaw already so the extra links have been removed already?
Chop top is too cool to scrap. I think... I'm torn. At minimum that grill and hood need to become a bar or something. As far as the Saginaw it was already done when I got it. Not sure what was removed or modified.

I was thinking you would be cool to take the back half of a Peggy and make a trailer out of it. And cut the top off put a rooftop tent
on top

Even better!. But I have another carcass I may do that with. If I ever have the time. Or the money. Or the skills. Or the time. Did I mention the time?

Funny thing about the convertible is that as rusty as it looks, the floor is perfect all the way from the fire wall to the tailgate.

OK, Oink 55 has entered the Pig hospital for a facelift. One thing I want to do mechanically is work on the PS. PO (actually 2 POs ago I think) installed a 3 bolt Saginaw box. Besides being a 3 bolt (lame) it is kinda "catchy" when turning the wheel. Also this Pig has the turning radius of a Peterbuilt. Or worse. Is this normal? I mean to the point I have to back in to parking spots at the store because it won't swing in to a spot without a 3 point attempt.

So I'm interested in going back to stock-type 55 PS. Oddly I can't find anything on IH8MUD on doing this. I believe some of the lesser Cruisers (60s?) have a similar high mounted power steering box that can be adapted? Thoughts? The other reason to go to stock type PS is so I can fix the front crossmember which was "notched" to clear the Saginaw. By "notched" I mean largely removed. 😖

Can we get some good pics of this PS box and frame for the “cringe factor”? Guys used to go that route back in the day because those boxes were practically free and super plentiful. There are boxes that can be fit to the outside or inside of the frame. The best example I’ve ever seen was the one @DoubleNickels did in his write up. Very neat and clean and out of the way. If I were to install PS in another 55 I’d seriously consider doing what he did, especially if front coils were being considered, like what Doomber did.
If you’re wanting Toyota, better go with the 80 box and the 205 sector shaft upgrade.

Ya, I'll get some pix, it'll be a bit as it's up at a friends shop getting it's facelift. :)
I did a couple of the saginaw conversions on Pre- AMC CJs and they have the same problem with having to assault the front crossmember.
I will check out the writeup you mentioned.

@Hobbs81 if you don’t need those floors I just picked up a piggy that could use them…just saying
At this time I don't have the heart to cut up that mutant pig. It's just rusted perfectly weirdly. Still has the drivetrain, not sure if it can be saved or not, but I have a vision of showing up to a Pig outing in it just for s***s and grins. :)

Those are some bizarre rust holes. One of them looks like you can just reach through for the radiator cap!

I think it’s a keeper. After all, at what we are guilted in to paying for the torn and holy jeans that we buy our kids. One of my kids was wearing her jeans that had pre-torn knees and one day she kneeled down and they tore further around each way. She didn’t like them any more so my wife went out to return the defective jeans. When I balked at the insanity of it I got in trouble.

Keep the hood

Oh, the hood is going to live a happy life. At worse it, and the front clip, will become some kind of bar or other art. Right now I think the whole rig needs to be saved and put back on the road. Please don't tell me wife.... o_O

That is Seinfeld comedy right there🤭🤣🤣

Every time I’m around a kid with those pants, I go, “Hey are you okay? Looks like you barely survived an encounter with a badger.”
