I think that leaves <5 pigs now in B.C. :crybaby:

Congrats on getting a great truck from a great owner.

That's still about 4 more pigs than are in Tennessee.

I passed inspection but didn't have time to go register it. Hopefully Monday.

I still have oil leaking. Doesn't leak at idle, but there are a few drips when parked after a drive. I'm convinced that most, if not all, is coming down from above the weep hole, so I,m still hopeful that it's not a rear main. (It's kinda hard to pinpoint leaks because of the layer of rust preventative covering everything.) I guess I need to check the side cover and pushrod cover next or go ahead and pull the pan.

It's not leaking from the crank case vent? With a turbo, perhaps there is some extra pressure in the crank case that may cause more oil to leak.

On my NA '81 3B, my front drive-shaft occasionally will gather enough oil from the crankcase vent and put a drop or two of oil on the driveway.

Just my $0.02

Yeah, the front drive shaft has a slight smear on it, but not enough to be dripping off onto the driveway. There are drops I can see, almost ready to fall, attatched to the bottom of the block casting on the passenger side and the center. The center one would be right near the hole that would drain the bell housing. It might be coming out of the hole, but there is a drop up the curve of the casting towards the passenger side on the flat (horizontal) spot where the bell housing bolt goes into the case. I cant see any evidence of oil below the side cover. It could be still coming from the pan and blowing back?

I guess it could be blowing back from the bottom of the breather hose, but I thought they mainly leaked after shutdown. Am I mistaken? If it is coming out of the pipe, what can be done about it?

On Military trucks, they call that the Slober Tube. Drips all the time and the only thing to do, is make the pipe longer and let it drip, but I think you have other problems, also. That was alot of oil leaking.

I'm over in Knoxville and I've never seen one out here. :'(

Good news:
Air Conditioning working!
Inspection passed!
Still think the rear main seal is not leaking.

Bad news:
The lady who processes the imported car paperwork is out of town for a week, so no title/registration/plates.
Still leaking oil.

I guess I'll ask in the diesel thread, but if there are any 3b people here; the leak looks like it is coming from just above the starter and the dipstick hole on the left side of the block. I haven't really got in there to see, but I thought someone might recognize this leak. Not wet behind the injection pump. Further back, kinda behind the motor-thingy that is hooked up to the IP.

On the right side (not as bad as left) the rectangular cover above the exhaust manifold looks dry. The block below the exhaust manifold is wet.

Any ideas?

Amazing what a little rubbing compound can do to some flat paint.

Shiny.

You might want to PM Charles (cruiser_guy) and ask him if he was aware of any leaks. He's in Sierra Leone but he's on MUD from time-to-time and may be answer your question.

Post some pics on the diesel section as well. Very knowledgeable folks on that forum.

Thanks,
I talked to Charles by email quite a bit before picking up the pig. I think the leaks started since he left for Sierra Leone. I'm sure sitting for so long is the main cause of the leaks. I just need to track them down and plug them up.

I posted in the diesel section. I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to diesels in general and 3b's in particular. I think those guys are "diesel guys" while I am not. I'll just stick around my friendly pig section and talk to you nice folks. I am (or at least rapidly becoming) a pig guy!

Thanks everyone for their help!

It was kinda hard with $4.00+ diesel prices and a 40 gallon tank to calculate mpg. The first 4 or so times we gassed up, the pump hit a dollar limit before filling the tank. We finally filled the tank in either Cheyenne or Fort Collins and filled again in Oklahoma City. 24.7 mpg for that leg at 67-68 mph on a mostly flat interstate but fighting headwinds a good amount of the time. I still haven't put any more diesel in it since Ok Cty although it's nearing empty now.

Wow,
Did I ever add a pig to my stable at the right time!
The 80 blew a head gasket yesterday! I'm not sure if I should fix it or part it out. If I part it out, will the 3rd row fit in the pig? I think it would be too wide to fit in the pig. I would check myself, but the 80 is at a friend's house right now.

I found a rear facing Volvo 240 wagon jump seat locally that I will check for fit in the pig. I've read on mud that Yukon and Escallade 3rd rows fit; but they are awfully proud of them on flea-bay. Any other good options?

PS: Anybody wanna buy a 911?
