Sweet bro, sounds like an Audi with no exhaust for sure!.. Way to think outside the box.. im also intrested to know how the tourqe curves, ect are working in a Cruiza.. i know for the most part VAG engines have a low Tourqe curve!

congrats on gettting it on the trail and completed.

So is the power of the V6 enuf? I assume the dual Tcases are working nicely?

You ended up ripping off the exhaust it sounds like... or that is not running a muffler ;)

I had set up some booty dual exhaust with 2X 4" flanges, 2X 6" reducers and 2 X 90* corners which fed directly into a flowmaster hushpower each side then i ghetto tacked soem leftover exhaust parts that i had lying around to complete the system to get it on the road. I had intended on using this bootyfab setup to get the 40 miles to the exhaust shop, but i didn't make that appointment, so i ended up going 250 miles on it! it lasted half a day for the left side exhaust, and 1 1/4 days on the right side before it got ripped off. Interesting thing to note is that the engine is running on limp mode right now as i haven't ran a VAG-COM tool on it to reset the ECU: thus she's running full rich and absolutely zero advance. none, zip zilch. it also runs HOT too. That being said, once the exhaust broke off (due to the 4 tack welds yielding to rock damage) the whole thing ran even hotter, and the brilliant ECU kept cutting coil and fuel injector power to protect the motor. i used some steel plumbing strapping and some pan head screws to put the pipes back on for the 3 hour drive home. Ghetto, but effective for avoiding the fuzz.

Tuesday, i bought a VAG-COm cable and adapter for $25 on e-bay. Wish i did that sooner dammit. I'll report how it runs with some advance and a leaner mix.

funny part is that it's got WAYYYAYYYAYAYYYY more balls than my 2F in good tune did. Also used about half the gas that the 2F would even running in limp mode.

THe dual cases worked great. definitely the way to go.

lots more info on this motor at www.12v.org

more stuff:

I also managed to get the anti rock on the front, but Currie didn't ship the hardware for the rear one, so i only ran one. Check out the droop that the airshox give.

More photos tomorrow, i'm lazy today.

Thanks,

Cross post here, but this is the current underside of the tranny system. Note that odd looking engine at the front of that drive line!

Well, updates somewhat.

Got a VAG-COM cable off e-bay for the ECU. THere's a few trouble codes: mostly emissions crap related. There's the odd vital sensor that has problems (crank position sensor) but the rest is doing fairly well.

Gotta get the major exhaust leaks fixed: read- get the real exhaust system installed, to help keep some excess heat away from the MAF. It's been running a bit hot lately, probably due to high under-hood temperatures. I'm also going to order a VSS from downey to see if that helps things a bit. I get the impression that the engine doesn't like the idea of pulling a heavy load while the truck is "parked" or in "neutral".

Hey Mike,

These are all located in Southern BC, Various locations. Harrison, B.C. mostly. Trails are 6 ft under, Oil Can, Sunrise lake, Wilson lake, and Hale Creek. Lots of info in the Projects section of BC4x4.com

Truck is off the road now for this year's winter build. Aqualu tub and full exo, tube fenders w/ aluminum skins.

Since the last few posts i had a custom dual system done by Accurate in Langley. It's friggin artwork. The issue is that each 2 1/4 inch side is only dumping 3 cylinders each total 1.4L per system. . . bit big. Going to combine the dual exhaust into single. Dual 2 1/4" is a bit much breathing for a small 6 like this.

Anyone want a kick ass custom exhaust 2 1/4" It'll be from bottom of downpipe on! ;)

Anyhow. Lots more going on with this truck, next year i'm looking for a 2.7 Bi Turbo (same mounting pattern, more oomph). This motor is doing fine though it'll be a perfect fit once i get some fuel pump issues figured out.

It's running dual fuel pumps as i have my main inline pump at the firewall, which doesn't really enjoy the sucking duties very much. The secondary pump is from a 3FE, but the engine still runs even on the 3fe pump. good trail spares.

I'll likely switch fuel cells as well, as this style of Jegs cells doesn't have the capacity for a side fill bung.

Recent updates:

starting the re-tubbin, re-jiggin of the suspension and full exo build. This is going to be slow, but here's what we have so far:

old tub off: Free for pick up if you want it!

i've determined that i can't use the aluminum fenders that i've got, so those have to go too. . .

- upgrading the rad fan to 3300 CFM,

- reducing it to single exhaust as dual is a bit much flow: 2" per 1.3 liters of displacement is too much. . .

- re-sealing the driveline

- rear shocks going flat, more on that later.

- move or replace the fuel cell.

photos to get it all started again.

Dan

actually, i got a 3500 CFM Zirgo off ebay for $75 with 40 amp relay, harness, and 2 temp switches. muchhhh better deal. Should arrive tomorrow.

Finally got the christmas party out of the way: served 47 people dinner in the garage!

Now back to business, setting the tube bender up on the embed plate front and center of the garage (sorry buddies, shop space now occupied, no oil changes for you!) and going to order up some 2" X .120 wall.

First I have to drain my rear shox and re-jig the rear suspension, gut the one half of the exhaust and hopefully sell my fuel cell and get a side inlet version. . .

So current stuff for sale list:

- 2 1/4" exhaust with flowmaster Hushpower used only 1/2 season $200 (pick which side you want)

- 2F stuff - starter, alt (Chev 1 wire), bellhousing. Offers.

ahh ebay whore, good deal dude:D might be interested in the fuel cell. do you already have your tube dies? theres a guy on Crawlin BC that gets 1.75 DOm fawin cheap. I got 4 lenths

Dan: BUY MY FUEL CELL.

i'll check Crawlin for the post. I have 2" dies for my JD2 bender. Maybe if i can find one to borrow, i'll get that 1.75

Slow Ass

so it's taken me long enough to get around to updating this thread. . .

Aluminum tub in progress shot:

And another:

IMGP3860.jpg

had to cut the bottom 3 inches off for the rock sliders. Also bucked off the temporary shock braces so that i don't need to have the shox through the floors. QA1 rod ends will be used for the rear shocks. more on that later.

got 948' of steel on the floor of my garage. Got busy last night:

this is the outer side.
