So many miscreants involved in these types of builds.

Good luck, @BiffS

Thanks guys... Yeah, the 70 bug has been in my face for years now. I'm glad that I get to ruin someone else ... I mean RECRUIT someone else.

C'mon... 40's on a 70 is a real thing!

Glad you have moved on from a Shelton!

😂😂

;)
He's firmly into the 70's now with his VDJ76 that we have here. It's going to get the big boy build treatment next. 37's, 6" lift, lots of #overland build parts.

It joins his other cruisers still at my shop after 9+ years....

Looking awesome. I am very "tray tempted" on my 79. They are sweet.

Thanks for sharing

Heya Shellbster!

Very nice sw33T build brother! It raises a query for me: Where did you happen to find those knuckle boots???

When I redid mine I was wishing I had something like that!! Thanks for all the pics allowing us participate in this with you!
Good question! They are from Terrain Tamer!

Are you going to use the newer style 79 series dash for the truck?
Looking forward to progress. I have the late style dash for my 2nd 79 series project that I have yet to finish, so all the knowledge I can gain is great.

Going to let @BiffS reply!

The plastic dash uses a completely different mounting system versus the steel dash.

Steering column mounts different, harness, dash sub-structure exists on the plastic dash for airbag support that the steel dash doesn't use. Think of it like a plastic skin on an exoframe.

It can be done, but you'd be better served to cut in the front firewall of a modern 7* series than swap all the brackets.

I'll be bringing these in late March or April.

Which company are you going with for the 6" lift? Or is it going to be a custom thing?
Using Slee front arms with some custom axle brackets on the front for moving the axle even further forward.
We'll probably go with the front range fab highsteer kit to solve some steering angles, which involves machining the knuckles and installing a flat top arm.

The rear will be spring over, hence the need for so much in the front.

I cannot wait to see this one in person though I fear I may catch the 70 bug if I get too close.
