It was kind of an unwritten rule back in the day to NOT mess with the vent windows in someone else's car/truck without express permission. Half the time they would fall apart when they were opened- or the matchbook would fall out! Very similar to the rule of NEVER pulling a parking brake in the rust belt on an unknown vehicle.I remember growing up as well with those. Even though my parents never smoked, there was always a matchbook in them to keep them tight.![]()
Sadly, the vent window upgrade is only available for single cab and 2 door style 70s.
The 4 door versions are 1.5" shorter than the 2 door, which makes them impossible.
I think the 73/74 series folding windshield guys get the short end of the stick on that aspect too.
Parts are all available brand new still to make it happen, but it's a costly manouver.
You need to drill a few small holes in the door right above the vent window for the brackets,.but otherwise, it's a straight swap.
