So here is my plan;

Look and feel - slightly on the Resto side, keeping with the original overall look and feel of the truck. Just a few changes on the outside ...
Making this truck the ultimate sleeper ...

Again ... This build will be super clean and very tastefully done

700HP LSA with Billet assembly
New 6L80 6 speed
60 series power steering conversion
Advance Adapters
NEW Split case from Japan
OME with FOX2.0 shocks ... NOW TBD
PSI Harness
Wilwood 6 Piston
E-Stopp
Dakota Digital HDX
Custom CNC billet dash
Recaro M Houndstooth 2x2
Full custom interior
Spark Industries Truss polished wheel
Electric-Life power windows
Resto-Mod Air Vapir 3S with Reactor Controls
AAW HWY22 chassis harness
Switch Pro's SP9100 electronic switch panel
4X4 Labs rear bumper
4Plus front bumper
Custom Wheelsmith smoothie wheels

UPDATE ...
Going 3 link front and 4 link rear & considering upgrading the axles (if anyone wants to comment on this I'd love to hear !! ) ... dont know if I need to or should do LOL

I have to giggle at "slightly resto" and "700hp LS"

For link suspension id look up Landcruisnman's project. Builds - Resto-mod on my 55 has begun

I am currently going radius arm and my experience is you will need to be well lifted to get everything to fit.

Sounds like you want a fun piggy. Will be cool to watch.

I have a ton of money into my Toyota axles 300M, full float, disc conversion and on and on. If I had to do it over I would build a set of spider 9" axles for not much more and have twice the axle.
The Toyota pinion will not like anything close to 700HP.

Yes ... I was thinking along the same lines J

Ron ...

Question.... is this build just another vehicle to sell when done like the 40's or are you keeping it. No difference to me, just would like to know your intent business or personal?
[/QUOTE]

Hi Ron ... Ultimately this one will be built to sell, I am through and through a car/truck enthusiast, I actually enjoy creating and building these more than owning them ... I am not a race car driver, I'm not a off-roader nor am I even a mechanic ! lol I simply take cars that I am in love with and (with my very good semi-retired mechanic friend, my paint guy and my interior specialist) build them into what 'I believe' would be the ultimate car/truck. I love the challenge, the learning and experience and overall the achievement of sitting back after 1000's of hours of work, looking at the finished product and saying "holy sh#@! we built that !!" and hopefully the masses will appreciate what we've done ... and thus far so good !!

The intent of this Pig is to do a completely over the top CLEAN, extremely desirable SEMA quality build, and like my grey 73' 40 sell it to someone with some $$$

Now, if I can snag this local 74' I will build for myself with a lightly lower budget ... LOL

Anyway I truly appreciate everyones input ... keeping in mind the end game for this truck (NOT a wheeler but could be a serious 'off-roader' ) I'd love to hear from everyone that can provide some valuable insight/ideas as we go ... :)

As for the linked suspension ... well if Jonathan Ward sells his trucks all equipped with linked suspension for BIG $$ then I'll assume it works well

Good to be here in the "piggy" section with you guys

FYI ... here is my best work to date, 1969 Pro-touring Camaro with 900Hp, took 2nd place in Canada and sold to an awesome guy in Georgia

Now let me ask ... If someone had a budget of lets say $15,000 for a complete set of axles with big brakes what would you guys use for a build like this ??
Forgive my ignorance on the subject but it seems that everywhere I look 99% of all these axle packages are built for Jeeps
Dana / Dynatrac / Currie etc ... J Mack mentioned Spider as well
Cheers

Badass Camero, Steve!😃🍻

Not much I could probably pass along to an experienced builder who wants to build “the ultimate 55”! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

From an investment standpoint, knowledgeably restored and lightly modified stock 55’s are pulling pretty big dollars. This is what the biggest crowd of potential buyers is looking for. The more mods, the more money spent on labor and hardware, the more you whittle down that buyer crowd trying to sell for more to cover for the investment. With any luck, you already have someone lined up who wants to buy whatever you build.

Forgive my ignorance
Most all the manufactures will build you an axle to fit your pig, most mention are based on the Dana design.
I would use a custom housing based on the Ford 9" as it looks most like the Toyota housing and make your pig look less like a jeep.

I uses these in one of my pigs, Signature Series Front Housing

Thanks J ... I also like the fact they look 'custom' rather than like you said ... 'Jeepy"
I will call them today

You can see the size difference here.
