Good looking 40th, looks just like my wife's! I love that color.

i would like to check out some LX's in person, but they seem to be few and far between around here. That car is 4 hours away.....

whatcha think?
1997 Toyota Land Cruiser - Limited 40th Anniversary Edition

we should change this to "Find Matt and Dan an 80 Land Cruiser!" thread :grinpimp:

Looks like a good one to me, of course I would have to ask if it has lockers or not. To most people, they have no clue what that dial is and rarely mention it in ads.

I fixed your title change.;p

I agree, I looked and if I had found the right one, I would be sporting a 40th as well.
My favorite colored 80's are the Champagne LX's, 40th Sage and of course Expedition White. :flipoff2:

Update: I have a 100-buddy, Mike Pint, who now lives in VA. I had sorta forgotten he had moved there from Colorado until Sandy reminded me . Anyway I called him late last week and he was planning to go to IPOR on Saturday! And Terry, the guy that has the '96 LX450 for sale, was going to be working at IPOR on Saturday!

So Mike was kind enough to be my "eyes", "ears" and also took it for a drive. Unfortunately, as is often the case, its not quite what I am looking for. There just is not substitute for being there in the 3D if you know what I mean.

Its probably a 7 on a 10 scale per Mike. Not bad probably but the shipping kills the deal for me really. And, as typical, there were things like cracked leather seats, split seam on one seat, a severely worn and chunked steering wheel, etc. that Mike relayed to me... There's just a few "dots" that are now not connected in my mind concerning this rig.

It sucks being a perfectionist and looking to buy a 14-ish year old rig!

good catch with the carfax thing. I do like that color too. It does sound like you both (disco/spresso) are getting closer to finding your 80s. Just gotta keep searching. As for chunking steering wheels, I have one of AAtlasx (not sure on spelling) steering wheels that replaced my stock one. All I can say is wow. Very nice wheel.

I could fix the wheel and seats. Supposedly the PO/OO "took care of everything regardless of expense...". Then why didn't he take care of the most obvious issues? Just a little disconnect. And for me: "Burned once...twice shy" sorta thing.

There are a couple low mile units for sale. They're just way too high even accounting for the low miles. We'll see if they get more flexible on the price as time goes by. Time is my friend since I already have a very capable rig...I can afford to be picky and take whatever time is necessary to find the one I want.

But the looking/searching process does get old

I'd like to check this one out, but like many of the other rigs i see, there's just one thing that keeps me from going further. In this case its the miles. Ive seen a fair amount of low mile rigs out there, and thats what i'm hoping to find. I recieved a pm from a guy with a LC that has 130k, but its GREEN and in TN!

Here's the Carfax rig I was looking into...not sure if youve seen it on craigslist, but its a "RUN AWAY" rig for sure...

Matt,

That's the one I checked out a few weeks ago. The current owner's story and the CarFax story don't jibe: Guess which one I believed ;-)

Surprised he hasn't sold it as he told me "...he had a list of buyers and it won't last long...". Right.

yeah that guy is trying to pull a quick one for sure.

I just finished cleaning out the Rover for its new owner. It leaves for california tonight at 6:30..... sad day! :frown:

Be careful of PA salt! I think I asked for under-carriage photos (I need to create a spreadsheet with all the info from all the 80's I've inquired about...)on this one and just got "its a nice Land Cruiser" without photos back from my e-mail instead...pretty typical response as you know.

I did see this one. Might be all legit but the paint seems to be too perfect for the miles and the worn leather ;-). Its a jungle out there!
