Went to HF with the intention of buying their $100 brake bleeder system, they didn’t have that one but they had a $40 kit that uses air, and that was my goal anyway. Never did get it to work right on the first rear drum, so I just robbed the hose from that rig and brought the old-faithful “wife pumping the brake pedal” out of the kitchen and back into the game. Didn’t take long to get about 4 cycles per wheel, and now my brakes work much better. The bleeder, not so much but I have a fancy hose now at least. 🤓

I have a cheap kit that uses air... "Four Uncles" or something that probably sounded great until it was translated to english. Seems like it is not working well due to all the bubbles it pulls through the bleeder line, but gets to a good pedal quickly. Mostly use it for pulling fluid out of reservoirs though.

Commuter was starting to run pretty rough and acted like it wanted to give up on the WW bridge today. Have never taken a set of plugs to failure before. Good odds there are 182k miles on these.

@kevin in okinawa I have a Motive Air Bleeder and really like it. I think it was $75.

They also have different adapters for makes with screw on reservoir caps. I even found one for the surge brake master on my boat trailer. That would have been a total PITA using a screw driver to pump the cylinder enough to bleed the whole system.

Front hub leaks were becoming puddle on the garage floor bad.

What would be causing the axle joint housing to impact and score like like this?

Spindle nuts were only finger tight; I was able to spin both right off with three fingers.

No C clip on the end of axle shaft?

C clip was present. Only thing abnormal about assembly was the spindle nuts were only finger tight.

It is hard to see in that photo, but it was really eating the top of that housing to the point it built a bur over the bearing race.

How does the birf look? The top and bottom looks like it was ground out for a larger birf in an older 40 housing. Could that be it?

Front bearings, races, rotors, and pads all swapped out yesterday. Would have taken pictures but my hands were completely filthy about 7 minutes into the job.

Only ran into one problem with a seized passenger caliper, so had to run to AutoZone to grab one of their Duralast units. We'll see how it performs.

All in all, the entire job took about 10hrs including a few trips to the parts store. Saved myself about $2k from the shop quote I got.

Shout out to @kouki for the advice and for the loaner tools!

Now to get my CVT awning and Gamiviti mounts installed...

Not too bad; finish rubbed but no evidence of high heat.

No different than the passenger side:

Only broke one brake line and will need new tie rod ends. The old TREs were on so tight the separator mushroomed the TRE studs getting them off.

Congratulations Ahmad and Olivia!
BTW if anyone is going to a Home Depot they had fluid film on clearance for $5.80 a can

Congrats!

To add to the home depot deal list- they are clearing previous model M12 Fuel stubby 3/8" impact tools. In store only and less than $120 out the door.

Ooh, I need that. I love my 1/2" stubby.

Refinished the peepers on the Disco 2. At last year's safety inspection I was warned about the cloudy headlights. Don't have "before" pics.
