That was/is a fun project it when remarkably smooth mostly because it was mostly domestic parts, Summit included all the engine seals needed, and Vince did a really clean job installing the motor.

man don't be afraid to give me a shout, id definitely given you a hand with that but looks like you had a great crew
Yeah, what he said! I got a new set of stubby wrenches I'm excited about using!
Extra hands are always better. Thanks.
especially for us "east of the edge of the earth/I-95" here in Maryland, lol! I'm not too far either, and I like wagons :)

I just got back from a whirlwind 3 days of traveling and driving. I flew down to Houston to pick up a pristine, rust free 2004 Suburban 2500 with Quadrasteer (Dana 60 rear axle with 15 degrees of steering), drove up to my cousin's house in Dallas where I met my brother who drove out from Clovis, NM with the NOS M416 trailer he bought for me while he was stationed in the Netherlands and had shipped back State-side this past Summer with his personal belongings. I left at 8:30 from Dallas and got to just East of Knoxville before stopping for the night last night around midnight, made the rest of the trip home today. I started a thread in Trailer Tech to document whatever it is I'm going to end up doing with it. Glad to be home.

was messing around with my wife’s vinyl cutter over the weekend, the club logo was hard to do because of all the details and I didn’t have a super clean image to start with but over all it looks good on the back of the tundra

Nice score on the suburban!! I feel they did not market that properly, They should have showed a soccer mom parallel parking not some farmer backing a horse trailer. They are rare but they do turn very well.

Now I have to figure out what to do with this 03 2500 I picked up before I found the Quadrasteer in Texas. :p This one is out of California and has the 8.1 big block which is super smooth but the interior is shot. The oil cooler lines are leaking so I'm going to replace those and probably list it. Katskins has the pattern for the leather but not sure if that worth it if I'm going to sell it. I want to drive both for a few weeks before I decide which to keep. Leaning towards keeping the Quadrasteer though. It's pretty effing cool.

Quadrasteer was a awesome addition to GM trucks for the 3-4 years they offered it. it really was an amazing addition but when they first offered it it was a $4000 option and no one went for it. They lowered it to $2200 the last years and they did much better. We had a neighbor that had it on a crew cab 1500HD and it could park like no tomorrow in tight spaces. They also trailer better under loads but backing up a trailer with quadrasteer can be a bit different.

This is the culmination of the last 3 weeks or so but these 2 pictures are at the start and end of this evening. New OEM radiator, water pump, all heater hoses, t-stat, oil cooler lines, fan clutch, tensioners, idler pulley, front timing cover crank seal, both belts and fresh Dexcool. I used a little FIPG on the t-stat housing just to put a little Toyota on it. ;) I replaced the rear rotors and pads and I'm waiting for Napa to get the front Akebono pads in I ordered last week. Then a quick brake bleed and a long overdue test drive. This thing purrs! Question on the brake fluid, the spec is DOT 3 and what's in there now looks blue. Is there a blue colored DOT 3 or is that color indicative of a different spec? And if so what do I do about it?

Nothing quite like a 8.1 !!! I really enjoyed mine...until I got a Duramax! That is still a good engine that will carry the mail, add a Hypertech and it will burry the spedo...or so I am told lol!

Pulled it out and took a quick test drive. This thing is so smooth. Tons of power too. It's going to be hard to part with this one.

You will regret selling it. That is a bullet proof combo.. Full float rear 14B, 4L80, 8.1. The last of the great Suburbans! LT at that.
