The spot where this one happened is before the get to the switchbacks, it's a scary off camber area where the temptation is to almost scrape against the rocks on your right hand side. One more roll for this guy and he's have been down into the creek that runs along the road.

Well, darn it looks like the connector for my carb-fan burned to a crisp. This seems to be common. Fortunately, the weather has been cool so I haven't yet experienced vapor lock. Does anybody know where I can find one of these green connectors or repair it other than temporalily using a crimped flat tip connector and electrical tape?

Got a hidden winch installed and had a minor calamity getting new bump stops in when the bolt in the stock bump snapped in the frame. I had to put my nonexistent welding skills to the test. Took a few tried but got it out. Also removed the rear sway bar so I can't wait to test the "long travel" rear suspension

My daughter and I are taking our yearly trip down Skyline Drive tomorrow. Took the 40 for a test drive today and found out the passenger side outside door handle wasn't opening the latch. Thankfully I had an OEM replacement on the shelf. Swapped it out and good as new. Also, I love how Toyota put this hole in the sheet metal to get at this handle nut.

Made a run out to Catlett to refill all my fuel cans with winter blend non-ethanol and some off road diesel for the tractor. With both tanks in the 80 filled up I had 74 gallons of fuel on board.

I pulled the LX apart this weekend to diag the rough running issue and started to tackle the TB and WP. Rotated to TDC and sure enough the passenger side of the engine was about 2 teeth off. This explains all the running issues this truck has. Proceeded to finish the job, just have to put the thermostat housing back on and button everything up and we will be hopefully firing up tonight

The belt was disintegrating there was so much debris in the timing covers from it. Pretty sure that’s why the truck jump timing int he first place. As far as I can see it’s been 180k since last changed

Worked on swapping out a fuel pump for my cousin. Line was broken at the pump from when he tried to take everything off. Tried seeing if I could get it. Ended up having to drop the tank and taking the short rubber line off where it met the hard line. Tomorrow I'll put the tank back up and hope she runs.

New steering rack boots, tire rotation and greased the nips . First project in the new garage.

The Toyota clips for the inner part of the boot were a huge PITA. They seemed to small or like a special tool was needed. Ended up using aftermarket ones.

fired it up last night, runs PERFECT no misfires i haven't refilled the coolant yet, i decided to go ahead and order the Heater T's while the coolant system is drained. They should be here today or tomorrow but for now she's all back together

Y’all ever had a front hub bearing tighten up? I suspected mine had as the 61’s leeward insistence had gone from long-term “acceptable” to downright untenable. So I took stuff apart, cleaned everything, greased my outer bearing good, ran to Home Depot for a 3/8 to 1/2” adapter for the torque wrench, did the preload by the book-ish, seems much happier now.

Also discovered that the toe in was a bit toe out, which certainly contributed to the aforementioned rightward drift. Turned my tierod until it was happy again; just a bit toe-in. Road tests up to 45-50 on backroads and it handles well!

Tightened up The two forward, interior knuckle arm studs that had just a smidge of play. And i lubed every zerk fitting I could find .

PSA: good idea to check your bolts after CMCC and fall crawl.

Got a set of diff armor from moto farkles. *My diffs got banged a bit and I’m not a fan of that $hit at all*. He makes Really nice bends! I can’t wait to get a welder now

You should get in the habit of checking Knuckle studs before and after every trip. If I only check one thing it’s the knuckles. I’ve sheared them before. They will loosen and snap and are a PITA to get out.

Pretty sure my brake master went bad driving back from Massachusetts yesterday. It happened all of a sudden on the highway 5 hours into the drive. Pedal goes almost all the way to the floor if you haven't used the brakes in 20-30 seconds and very little movement at the bottom of travel slams them on when this happens. The brakes work normally near the top of travel with repeated stops though. No error lights or anything, no extra effort is required, it still stops easily, and the pedal doesn't seem to sink when stopped. Pray for my wallet...

Can I ask what gas station that is? I'm local to Bristow and have not really looked but need to start running that in my lawn equipment.
