Does anyone know what this Gauge Cluster is actually called in the Prado? Or any idea what Prado trim level this came in?

I'd love to find out if it can be swapped for the multi-function clock in the GX.

It appears to be somewhat modular based on the line that crosses both right above the HVAC vents.

And according to the exploded view I've attached.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm definitely making a big assumption that it's interchangeable. I'm suprised no one has tried this yet...

I am of limited technical skill when it comes to electronics, so I'm by no means about to try it myself, not sure I could even find the cluster. I've tried looking on ebay, etc., to no avail.

Ah well... Sure would be a neat mod.

Easy way would be to pop the top and see if there are unused plugs. This would raise your chances for sure.

It looks cool but the parts alone look like they would be about $500+, and not sure if you can change from metric to English units. There is a step-by-step tutorial on it here:

From this tutorial it appears that the wiring is plug and play, but you have to cut a big chunk from your dash to fit it.

The Prado display is showing all the same information as our OEM setup just in a different way. This has me thinking that it would be plug and play as the signals are all going to that same plug, they are just displayed a little differently.

I like how it displays the time and ext. temp all the time, PLUS the other stuff you might be interested in.

Lookd at my dash after seeing this thread, one other problem that would come up is the center speaker... The Prado in the write up doesnt have one.

I have it in my Prado and installed it myself. Was expensive as fuuuu for the "computer" portion but as that link shows you, it's totally plug and play with some minor dash cutting (hobby knife will get it done in mins)

I looooooove having all that info on display so despite the cost, I think it was totally worth it.

BTW, there is room to run lines behind it so I might eventually modify the shroud for mounting some hardware like a radar detector or even just power cables for accessories.

@BukkakeAisu - do you have the part number(s) for it? Did you buy it all new from the dealer or a OEM parts house? Or did you find it used?

Actually, I believe I've located all the part numbers for this. There seems to be 6 main parts, and then some screws. The 6 main parts via SSG or Amayama show as $1100-1200 USD give or take a few bucks here and there depending on which warehouse you choose (UAE didn't seem to have all the parts available so I used Japan warehouse) and then plus shipping to the US, which I'd peg prob around $40-50 or so given the weight and my experience buying from these places before. Availability however shows as ">1" for pretty much everything so actually getting any of it still might not be absolute.

Surprisingly, the computer shows available through the US parts distribution houses, and it's about $400 less here....so you possibly could get it all for only around $700-800 USD (if its really actually available in the US...). Nothing else other than the screws show available in the US.

Anyway, no way I'd spend that much on it, but if anyone was able to find these things used as complete units, for say $200-300 or so, I'd be all over it. Maybe even $500 for a perfect one if you caught me really wanting it and with money burning a hole in my pocket. (What can I say?-- I'm kinda a sucker for cool, non-USA parts/mods. LOL) More than that and it starts to just not be that appealing.

I've listed part numbers for both finish panel trims (top "dash" cover piece) just in case anybody is really interested in getting this stuff. You obviously would only need one or the other.

**55423-60050-C0 COVER, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL, ACCESSORY METER-FIELDMONITOR, **BLACK**, TRIM1
**55423-60050-E0 COVER, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL, ACCESSORY METER-FIELDMONITOR, **SANDALWOOD**, TRIM0
55421-60060 PANEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH, UPPER, ACCESSORY METER-FIELDMONITOR (this came with new glass when i ordered it)

83268-60260 PANEL, ACCESSORY METER-FIELDMONITOR
83263-60260 SWITCH, ACCESSORY METER-FIELDMONITOR

Whelp...right after I found those part numbers, I decided WTH, see what pops up on ebay and I got a hit on the computer part number. I couldn't resist...I bought it. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Judging from the pics, I'll need the top finish trim and the front finish trim, and then I may buy new glass as well, depending what it really looks like when it arrives.
