haha there is a pile of old rusty cars on the beach entrance at the cabins.. mostly old frames and stuff. I would not worry... You drive a cruiser not a subaru

but, don't stall it out at low tide and have issues getting it fired back up as the tide is coming in... that would be bad.

I don't remember seeing those old frames before! Awesome!

well not to get on a soapbox... haha but i have the hardest damn time loading pictures to this site because of the size of them. So i tried to upload several pics and these two are the only ones that would post. The old forum would automatically resize them, but not the new forum and it's not worth the hassle trying to go in and modify each picture so it will fit on this damn site!

So i had some pics showing you but anyways you will see them....

Link them brother! Host on picasa or photobucket or facebook or whatever then use IMG tags to link!

I know, i have to do that google drive thing... i just like to upload and forget it. That's the easy way and that's part of paying for a star as far as i'm concerned... sorry for polluting the thread.....

I'm going to have to drop out guys :( I have no PTO left at work after a vacation two weeks ago and need highway tires for moonshine before a trip like this, so I'm out :(

Please take lots of pictures. I'm going to hate myself for not going.

We'll hate you, too.

Wait, don't you feel some stomach pains or something coming on about next Thursday AM? Sick days. Use 'em or else 'em.

I wish it were that easy :(

Sean, Shandor and I are all fishing this year. Pretty sure Eric will, too, once we teach him how to cast. I printed out the tide chart and am getting my tackle in order this week. Has anybody fished the inland side of the island? I just realized that I never even saw that side last year.

@SeanLX Would you be willing to help us out with tuning our CB's on this trip? I think it's just Eric and me.

Yep, I'm bringing poles too and hoping to catch some dinner.

I shipped my antenna analyzer back for repairs but I'll find my SWR meter. We'll take a look and test out radios.

It's actually hard to get to the sound side, except for two places... first is at the ferry landing. Second is the south side, if you want to walk around the tip.. you really need a kayak or something to take full advantage of the sound side.

This makes sense, looking at the satellite image. Thanks for confirming.

John V - picked up my Coastal fishing license today for $7. Not sure if you were up yet last year when Marie and I saw the 2 guys cleaning all the fish near the bath house they had caught the night before. They had went SOUTH of the cabins right on the canal to the intercostal waterway. The area that you can cross at low tide to get to Cape Lookout which BTW might be a fun excursion for one day. It was just after sunset and they said the tide had just changed but I'm not sure if it was going in or going out. They had at least 2 dozen real big ones, more than the legal limit I bet.

One week warning!

I guess we should talk about meals. Last year we did group breakfasts and dinners, lunch was on your own and portable. I assume we'll do the same this year, so bring something that can be added and shared at dinnertime and we should be good; canned or boxed is fine with me. Or just bring for yourself but please post up your intention.

There is one night to fill for dinner. Anybody wanna step up? Fresh fish is hopeful each day, especially with so many of us wetting lines, but I don't wanna be without a contingency. (FYI Bitter, cold, rainy weather will keep me in the kitchen all day making stuff.)

Eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits, etc for breakfasts?

Sign Ups:
Mike & Marie - dinner 1/3: big pot of chili
Sarah & John - dinner 2/3: sausage/corn/potato/etc one-pot meal (think low country boil-style)
Sarah & John - breakfast: hash browns, diced ham
Sarah & John - oil, S&P, knives, cutting board, spatulas, tongs, foil, paper plates, 2 large skillets, sheet pan, dutch oven
Sarah & John - dish soap, sponge, spray cleanser, clorox wipes
Eric - some cookware, 2-burner stove just in case

Wish list:
Eggs - Eric (can never have enough)
Bacon - Eric (can never have enough)
Sausage
Butter
Biscuits
Danish & Donuts - Alex
Dinner Rolls or French bread
Loaf of bread
Vegetables
5 lemons - Alex
Coffee - Alex
Coffee maker, sugar, cream
Paper Towels - Alex 6pk
Chips - Alex 2 bags
Forks/knives/spoons
Plastic cups - Alex
Dessert?
Toilet Paper - Alex 12pk
What else do we need???????

Keep in mind that the cabins have nothing on hand. We'll need to bring ALL cookware, linens and towels. They have a stove/oven, table/chairs, twin size beds and a bathroom with shower. There is heat in the cabins. We can obviously share cookware. I think there is a charcoal grill. There is no refrigerator. I can't recall if the water tasted funny last year - might wanna throw in an extra gallon each just in case. There is power in the cabins.
