Again .. misguided rhetoric....

I am afraid you are the misguided one. My response was to someone in the US blaming lower-case liberals, not a Canadian blaming the upper-case Liberals.

And you are wrong - Canadians haven't lost any gun rights, because they never existed in the first place. Gun ownership in Canada has always been a privilege; it has never been a right.

Which is fine by me. The problem with "rights" is that they allow people to abuse them with very little chance of punishment.

And I almost never vote for the Liberal Party - they are far too much to the right for me. :flipoff2: Wanna take a second guess? Begins with "N". :D I admit I voted Liberal in the last provincial race, but only to (unsuccessfully) help evict the dickweed Haroerite we had representing us. But Harper apparently doesn't need my help to get his party unelected... he's doing a fine job of that on his own.

But back on topic please.

That titan gun vault looks awesome! I just wish it wasn't so expensive. $300! But it sure would fit the bill perfectly for me.

I do occasionally store a rifle locked in the rear storage compartment. But since it's used mainly for camp protection from bears/cougars and unfriendlies, it stays locked away and unloaded until I need it. I have several concealed permits and have considered different mounting options for the interior.

My conclusion is that if I ever keep a gun in the vehicle, it should always be lockable when I'm away or I should just take it with me. I've tried various ideas about holsters mounted near the console and just never liked any of them. I don't like storing it in the glovebox as it's hard to reach in a pinch and like most people carrying it on me while driving isn't very comfortable.

The more I think about it, the more I like that titan gun vault. I even know exactly how I would mount it. But that price....ouch! I may have to bite the bullet...LOL.

, but the reality is that gun control only prevents regular, law abiding citizens from rightfully carrying and using their firearms as responsible individuals.

Well, in America that argument doesn't fly. Responsible individuals are a VERY small minority in the states.

Anyway - back on topic - I'm surprised that Tufffy doesn't offer some type of gun vault like the titan. It seems it would be in line with their manufacturing expertise. They offer a bunch of police / fire stuff too. If someone wanted to make their own though, Tuffy does sell their locks, and even a combo lock, and air spring cylinders, so with a little sheet metal fabing, doing your own isn't out of the question. Wish there were some smaller options. I don't need to carry a 1911 in my car, my PT111 is fine, and if a smaller option was available, I would even go Ruger LCP or maybe a PT3AT.

I am currious though, how quick of access do you need in the car? Personally, I'm not getting out of the car, or stopping the vehicle to enguage a threat. Guess I'm more of a use the gun to get me out of harms way, than a seek and destroy type.

soo.... here's the tuffy combo lock

http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-276-089-combination-lock-for-camlock-system.aspx

and the spring

http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-217-863-tuffy-7-12-gas-spring-kit-for-consoles.aspx

$50 doesn't seem bad, but then you add the steel ($20-$50 depending on your source), $20 for the air spring

HOLY COW! I didn't see they were that expensive now. When I bought mine it was about $199, but Titan would auction one at a time on ebay, for about $20 off, which is where I got mine. That other one that I mentioned is similar in a previous post, might be cheaper...

ridiculous thread...

To Natty and the rest of you pissing on this thread. Why can't you guys keep it to yourself. Say something useful or shut it.

No, you "lost your rights" (which you haven't) because a very small minority of law-abiding gun owners - and every criminal - abuse that right by killing people out of anger or whatever. Don't blame liberals - blame criminals.

Let's stay on topic- I am interested in long-gun options.

And before the reactionaries pile-on about how foreigners have no rights freedom of speech when it comes to criticism, I am an American citizen, Canadian citizen, and British subject. Triple threat!

I would like to see a tailgate mounted secure mount for a shotty. Anyone have one?

edit: Firetruck and Ebag - kudos for your common sense!

The line in red about being a citizen of multiple nations is total crap. Atleast with the U.S. . Simply put, We the People of the United States do not allow dual citizenship of our country and any other. If you denounce your citizenship with canaduh you may follow a legnthy process to the us citizenship. If you tried to have a true dual citizenship with the U.S., there is a distinct possibility you would be tried for treason (from your country) and espionage from ours. but you go right ahead and try it. maybe the B.S. you are spewing out of your face-anus will hold water with our courts, it seems to work for the liberal left in our country.

As far as "staying on topic" goes, sorry to Everyone for hi-jacking the thread, but it seems that this banter jumps from one to the other and they all keep saying "back to the topic" after some snyde coment, but then they respond again a few posts later just to try to have the last say. So get over it already! I don't truly know the gun laws in canada, and a canadian likely doesnot fuly know ours. Thats O.K. but please don't pourposfuly stir the proverbial "pot" to get a reaction simply because you are having drama withdrawls. Instead, go watch Canadian idol or dancing with the maple leafs or something. This thread was started for those who enjoy firearms and want to talk about the enjoyable aspects of them.

Thank you,

actually there are still many dual citizens in their 30's in teh US they did not stop this practice for people born to a US and other country citizen till the 80's and allowed it as long as the other citizenship was a friendly nation. Now you cannot naturalize and maintain your prior citizenship but can be born to both. IE the olympic skier guy this year. you know the drunk half canadian

You might want to do your homework before going off on a rant.

US State Department Services Dual Nationality

Basically, it's fairly difficult to be a dual citizen (or triple) but not impossible. In fact I have two cousins both of whom have wifes with dual citizenships, and both of their kids could be if they chose to (not sure off hand if they are or not).

My wife has US and British citizenship...never had any issues with that and the US gov.

Carry my guns in Pelican cases locked in the rear. Need them for different vehicles, depending on what I drive to the range!

Steve

Since this thread is back from the dead...again, I'll chime in. I plan to make a hidden compartment in the front of my drawer system, that can only be accessed by folding up the rear seats. Lockable of course.
you wouldn't believe the gun laws in Hawaii, some of the toughest in the U.S. You are only able to carry your firearm to and from a designated hunting area or range. you have to complete a hunter safety class to get a hunting license or a handgun permit. If you want to buy a handgun, you have to pick it out, obtain a permit for that gun, and then purchase it.
As far as all the political ranting in this thread...might be better in chat.

Alright, I stand corrected! Sorry again for the hi-jacking, but the thread is alive again and the way I cary in the rig is like this: Fobus Holster: UNIVERSAL HOME & VEHICLE MOUNT When I open the door I unholster and mount in the fobus platform in front of the seat under my right leg, and in I go. Reverse the process when I exit the rig. As far as in vehicle storage when I'm not there, well....thats why I'm still reading this thread, to get some good Ideas.

There was a forum member that made a custom center console and installed pistol holsters. I would probably mount on the left side of the transmission hump. However, if you chose to leave it in your vehicle, it would then be visible when you're not in the car.

Maybe you're talking about me or maybe not. I tried to find pics of my UGLY console thread but it has disappeared or atleast I haven't fount it yet. I had a .357 mounted in my homemade console with a hard molded holster screwed to the side. It was completely concealed....threw the console away about a month ago....prolly make something prettier next time.

Tackleberry, do you have a picture of the Fobus mounted? I have one but have been debating where to mount it.
