nobody wanted 55s back then. Couldn't sell the parts. I doubt we made 20 in 5 years. Al threw the last one in the scrap after it sat for
1/2 price in the garage sale for over a year. After that he said he wanted no more 55 parts

Talk about sad timing. Wish I could have purchased the final one...

I can see that being the case. People either want to run the stock look, or they want to throw something cheap and ugly on them and the beat the stuffing out of them. There’s a very narrow middle ground of enthusiasts that want to both wheel them and have them look nice in a non-stock way.
I pretty much like them all, but my preference is nicely fabricated steel.

that was over ten years ago. My timing on things seems to be off. I built tbi conversions in the late 90s. No one wanted them then but
now they're in demand. I built 80 parts way back when no one was modifying 80s. Only the 40's and 60s were always good to me.
40s are waning now so I figure I'll keep some parts going another year or so. the rare birds will always be custom. Translate that
to more expensive. Even what was historically a great product over the last 20 years, the tire carrier, isn't going to last forever.
Once it drops below one a month I'll be buying too little material to get much of a discount and the setup times to build them
will increase if I do one or two at a time. It will be a rich man's sport when everything is a one off custom.

Nice SOA

Kinda dig the sun roof! Was thinking about that the other day, how a 55 has a huge possibility for a bad-butt sun roof! The wife’s old 99 Tahoe had the sweetest sun roof that had a sliding panel inside that would block the window altogether, or you could open it and the glass all the way open. It was something like 16” - 18” when open, large enough to fit your body through.
The headliner almost looks suede🤔
