Bob:
Bob and Remy deserved the Iron Butt award for riding a stock bench seat all the way to Colorado from Maine/New Hampshire in 2017. If he’ll find a couple of late F150 captains chairs and two 18” pieces of 2” angle iron I can tell him how to ride in lumbar-adjusted comfort on the longer drive to Utah.
On our calendar. See everybody there

Maybe @bobm can meet Uncle Rico at Gobblers Knob after the museum.

I think we are going to leave on Sunday.
We are going to stay in Flagstaff a night and then drive to Monument Valley. That's a bucklist sight for Peyton and me.
Then we will continue through Moab, another bucklist for me, and find a spot near the museum Monday evening.
Extra stoked. Now I guess I should start my updates for the Doomer.

Even without an Iron Pig my wife and I were glad we crashed Pig Party 2018. We had never been to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, so that was good. Guess what, we've never been to the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum either, we might just wander up to see the FJ55's again this year :-).

Did we get a location nailed down yet . do i need to make reservations somewhere

Hi All,

I got a chance to catch up with Kurt, @cruiseroutfit it was nice of him to spend some time talking about our little Pig Party.

The short story is that they are getting some very nice snowfall right now that might limit access to some of the nice trails outside Salt Lake City (SLC) for our time frame (2nd half of June). Great news is that there are lots of options in the area if we get snowed out of some options.

I confirmed with Kurt that we want to run trails out of a base camp. He knows of lots of primitive camp options that will not require reservations or permits. These options do include pit toilets.

If they have a hot, dry spring the snow will disappear quickly, we should be able to make a decision by mid-May.

One idea Kurt suggested is the idea of starting our adventure at the Cruiser Museum on Tuesday afternoon, and then driving a couple hours outside of SLC on Weds AM so we can set up camp and be all set. There are hotels near the museum, as well as a KOA that they used during Cruiser Fest.

I will add some detail over the weekend, just wanted to get some of the latest updates out there for you all!

No sir, we will know more about the local snowpack in mid-May...

TJ...I don't think folks are necessarily looking for a final itinerary right now. Perhaps knowing the Land Cruiser Museum on Tuesday 6/18 or Wednesday 6/19 in downtown SLC is a sure thing and that the rest of the week will need to be finalized later when trail conditions are better known is enough. That'd allow initial travel planning and alleviate uncertainty.

Good point! I think until we know more about snowpack and local conditions, it would be safer to plan on Tuesday - 18 June - afternoon at the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum, then stay at the KOA down the street and then we are off on an adventure to parts as yet unknown Weds AM.

Hope that helps...
