k , i will scout out a location . DeMotte is our best bet for a camp ground .(water ,toilet.) reervations open up on the 20th of december ........ the jacobs lake camp ground is right on the main hwy . every time i stay there :princess: is not happy at everyones 360 view of all our stuff .........

If Bob's willing to come all the way from New Hampshire, we're willing to meet him at the North Rim. Thanks, Evan. Bonnie and I will be through St. George sometime around Thanksgiving-Christmas. Maybe we can spend an evening brainstorming. Unlike our last drive-by we'll make it work this time.

Have the dates been set?

June 21 is the longest day of the year ,,same week as last year , So 18 th ISH of june through the 24 th of june ... Open for discussion

Anytime in June after the 9th works for us.

We stayed at DeMotte campground on our visit to the North rim last year. Definitely a nice spot. It's a similar set up as the Cayton Campground, but I think it's a bit smaller.

We did the typical tourist thing and drove into the Grand Canyon National Park. It was good for a day, but no 4 wheeling in there. I'm assuming that the 4 x 4 routes are outside the National Park boundary?

The road down the North Rim to Swamp Point is 27 miles along the North Rim and then you can loop out via the National Forest. I think it was about 45 miles off road. 2wd stuff but beautiful.

This type stuff is all I do in a Pig. I am not interested in using lockers and gears and stuff. You want that, there is PLENTY in the area. Just head over to St George and you will have all you can handle.

Sounds like people who know the area are having great ideas for a good itinerary. Someplace to circle the wagons, soft trail rides, medium trail rides and great site seeing for all in what ever order works for all. I've set those dates aside for another Iron pig Festival, Pig Party 18. Hail to the longest day of the year and the most pigs in a wallow.

Lets land the dart on the calendar, what say ye all?? Looking forward to the challenge of getting there, on time (Ha Ha)

DeMotte campground anyone??

What's ironic is that a month before PP17 I drove to overland expo for 3 days via Grand Canyon West (glass walkway). Then went to north rim campground for opening day and stayed 3 nights. The last night there a wild rain hail snow rainbow blizzard hit. Watched from the window room at the lodge. Thought I was having a flashback from the 60's. Managed to snag a cabin over looking the canyon due to a cancelation. Stunning place. Anyway pig ran great sept for bad alternator. That trip was 2000 miles. Figured it was a good shake down cruise. Not good enough apparently. Long live the pig.

Let's due this thing!!! You game Bob???
