lots of day trips can be had from jacobs lake , kodochrome basin, bryce canyon, anything west of jacobs lake in the arizona strip is fuel limited . gas from there is ,, kanab, colorado city, hurricane , st george , and mesquite NV, .. all are north of that area .. we play down there alot . millions of miles of nothing but mine exploration trails , ..... Would be fun to start at Mesquite NV and go east . and travel towards jacobs lake .. having camped at jacobs lake i do not see how we could fit the group of casual "non" event minded pigs of, a size that i hope wold show up . to fit 15 to 20 rigs there would be tough . i am trying to find a patch of blm land over there that we could circle the waggons around ...

The campground map shows 3 adjacent group camping loops of 8-10 sites eachright at the entrance of the campground plus additional individual sites further in. Haven't been in the campground personally. We've stayed in a room and a cabin at the Inn on our two trips to Jacob Lake.

love camping in the big trees at jacobs lake . i have been sharpening my map skills and my memory . we usually base camp in kanab { hotel) and have 5 or so rigs go on day trips . so finding a overland route that that has possibilities for some to join in the middle or the end .. is where the fun will be . to let the wandererrs wander to a point and meet the base campers

odds of all of us being in close proximity of each other is not real good . it can be crowded . i need to find out what kill the animal season is open there on the dates we will be using

There is also fuel at Jacob Lake. I'd be up for a Mesquite-Jacob Lake expedition if logistics are favorable.

I was there this year in my TRD Pro 4Runner. The trail from Jacobs Lake to Knab Utah is unreal beautiful. Orderville Canyon. A++

I went to Point Sublime and all the way to Swamp Point to camp then out through the National Forest. The entire National Forest north of the North Rim is open camping. If Jacobs Lake is too "campgroundy" to you, there is enough room for hundreds of people just south.

This would have to be a tow-trip for me and @pmccraney, but we might have to go. I really, really love that area and could easily repeat the trip and see all new things.

Wngrog , did you hike/rappell orderville canyon in zion .

No there is a road with the same name that starts just east of Jenny Lake and pops out just east of Knab. It’s a part of the Great Western Road and even has a nice sign at the state line.

Perhaps we could start with a group campsite around Jacob Lake and day trips to make it easy on those with tight schedules and then close with some sort of expedition excursion for those with more time and the inclination to do more exploring. Sounds like both would be possible and options might increase attendance.

I like that idea, something for everybody.

Does anybody NOT like this area for the Pig Party, speak up now and how many of us like this area. As Bob said, looks like it's the North Rim.
