Hinge Mount:

i know i know it was just funny to see two little holes as an effort to save weight on your truck. Its like a fat guy drinking a diet coke with his triple decker burger and fries.

;p Yep! Nice analogy.

Got the hinge mocked up w/ the braces. It'll be removeable as I'll need to press in the bushings later:

Nutha Hinge Shot:

About done with this - just gotta let cool. Then, press in bushings, tack the tailgate to the hinge, remove bushings so it doesn't dry up the impregnated oil & weld 'er up. Reinstall bushings & finish adding the gas can area to the tailgate.

Air Tank Mounted:

Got this all leveled up, fitted & burned in :D Had to hone out the bushing w/ a small dia. flapwheel for a good while to get proper alignment. Also fabbed a lock location for tank security:

Bumper Corner Bracing To Frame:

Needing to brace the bumper from flexing, I thought this way would be the easiest for the connection. I used 3/16" wall & the old braces, cut down, & I still have to cut out 2 flanges per side. I may add additional curves pieces top & bottom & a small center tube to connect the side plates. Here's the beginning of it:

Thanks to my "trusty" eyeball I'm off just a tad on the bottom tube not being 100% level  I still need to add the bottom, side tubes, latch w/ lock, license palte w/ light & gas can security bracket.........

 I rely WAY too much on that. I spent alotta time fitting this up, tearing off & redoing the front u-shaped bar. What I shoulda done was to tack it, mount on the bumper, then step way back to see the trueness  I didn't realize it till I set it up on the bumper  Thanks, BTW :)

Got the floor & sides burned in. Gettin tube crazy I know. It's just gonna get worse

I originally thought this would be the lamest thread on the planet. I changed my mind...

This has totally turned out to be a truly unique beast and your skills are to be commended. In other words "NICE SKILLS MANG!"

Cheers!

Thanks dude! :D
I knew I'd catch he!! when I originally posted up - all the purist/haters ganged up but that only added fuel to the fire :bounce2:
As I've commented before, I don't really have any hi-tech tools - heck I weld on the garage floor ;p *Anyone with some drive & a vision can do this stuff. Believe me there are plenty of flaws - see last post :)

Refabbin Bottom Cage Area:

I had just tacked in the top license light/ plate bracket when I decided I couldn't live with the poorly executed job I did on the gas can cage. So, off came the bottom! The top & middle were perfectly level & square so it stayed. I'll hafta sleeve & add the bottom portion back on. Good thing I can salvage what I cut off, just needs trimming up.

Holy cow, Chuck! I didn't realize this was your beast! What a cool project! I'll be drooling often. Thanks for the piggy hood, man!
