Rear Shot W/ New Idea On Tailgate:

Chuck you have totally lost it man!!!!!
First you accuse me of selling you those 10" shackles and now the those :hillbilly: trucker mud flap women gussets:confused::confused:!!!!!

What's next....you gonna tell every body I'm custom fab'n a 10,000lb Pig for you??????

 You seen your thread lately? https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=173571
Got another suprise in the :pig: registry for you - page3

Onto the new setup for the tailgate..... I decided I'd rather have my air source vs. an extra gas can, so I'll add onto the air tank cage. The spindle will mount close to where it's shown, above the bumper. I have an  on how it'll be affixed. I'll also cut down the bumper & round the corners..... :grinpimp:

Didn't know Gordo was still in the biz..... looks like he has made some design improvements since he made mine up for me. Cool.

Yep, he still does all my precision machinework that my basic tools can't handle :D I really like the way he insists on using stainless on the shaft & tells me "Don't hit that edge w/ a grinder", I'll chamfer it on the lathe ;p His stuff really brings the value of my build WAY up! Sez he's still workin on getting a truck on the road..............

Onto the Bumper Corners:

Nice work on tail lights!

Thanks dude
I thought they turned out aight :D

Seeiing how the Avalanche rear bumper has built-in steps on the corners, I wanted to replicate that look, but in 1/4" plate ;p I'll add a small curved piece under the step & another piece of diamond plate to cap it off :smokin: Then, I have to decide on which bumper extenders to use to wrap the unprotected corners. I have the old piece from the area I removed, which is straight & the bottom is angled upwards. Or, I have a piece of TJ frame which curves almost perfectly to hug the bodylines.

Finished Bumper Corner:

Done! - Alotta fabbin done today so I'm hittin the hot tub :bounce2:
I'll lighten this up by drilling some holes w/ the holesaw or plasma. Instead of using those pieces I described earlier for the inside rear corner protection, I was thinkin of using something lighter & easier to fab  How bout some more tubing ? Yep, that'll be next, then I'll start the hinge mount for the air tank/ gas can carrier........

Damn!! Nice job!

Damn!! Nice job!

'Preciate it!

IMO, too busy :frown: What do you think?
Don't want this area to turn into a jungle gym look  I still have to make the top of the cargo cage w/ more tubing  Maybe I'll post up the other 2 options I mentioned earlier.

It's looking good but I agree it's get'n a little busy...box it!

Inner Bumper Corners:

It's looking good but I agree it's get'n a little busy...box it!

:grinpimp: Right on Roy! :grinpimp:

I'll take that advice & use the pieces I cut from the original modified frame. Amazing how us fabbers think alike ;p I'll mate these up after I take a few oz. off the bumper corners. Then, I'll hafta modify the old brace to the frame........

What are your plans for where you cut out the floor and around the wheel well? Your not going to leave it raw like that are???

On top of the wheelwell, I'm going to box in to level the curve of the int. body (where the panels stick up about 1"). Then, add some angle & possibly some small ga. perforated metal so small stuff doesn't slide out. Not sure if or how to tie that into the lower cage bars  I'd like to try & keep the body mounted independant of the frame/ cage. Yer gettin ahead of me Roy ;p Wait till you see how I'm gonna trim up the ends of the sheetmetal behind the rear doors. Here's a hint: <Bevis voice> Fire, fire, fire! :smokin:

Sorry! Can't wait......<over acting drama voice>you must hurry master fab'n Dr.!!!!!!

Well you did take some weight off....buuuuuuut with the old F 125hp it's just to close to call!

It's all about that low end tractor torque ;p

Got the ends welded on & drilled some lighteneing holes (behind the bumper I'll show later when I refab the braces to the frame):

i dont think those two little holes are going to do much towards "lightening" the truck :)
I agree but what you did looks good!

i know i know it was just funny to see two little holes as an effort to save weight on your truck. Its like a fat guy drinking a diet coke with his triple decker burger and fries.
