Probably. At some point. But I do want to put some miles on it - and ‘wheel it a bit first.

Big day for Patty - gears and lockers! I trusted you guys and went with 4.56s like you recommended. Kidding. 4.88s are going in! The rear gets a Harrop E-Locker, the front's getting an Aussie Locker. I know. I know. But the reality is the truck won't see a ton of 'wheeling. I can deal with the quirks of an automatic locker up front.

You gonna be my spotter?

The plan is to make the trip if all goes well with Patty's transplants.

Any suggestions on the gear change?

The build I'm helping on is likely due for gears this year. Hoping to go from the stock 3.90 to whatever is needed to spin 33's.

@WoodsTruck, you probably caught my joke that everyone suggested 4.56s. They didn't. The 4.88s were the overwhelming recommendation for 33s. Now, if I already had 4.56s, I'd stick with them. But the 4.88s are supposed to get the truck back to stock - you know, bouncing off the rev limiter at 75mph. Just kidding... there's no rev limiter... and I probably shouldn't go 75mph.

Give me a week, I'll post up with my initial reaction to the new gears.

ACC Garage is doing the gears and lockers. Their attention to detail is kind of off the chart. All parts that come off get cleaned. Most get painted or powder coated before going back on. The first time I was in their shop (15 years ago?), they were doing a de-smog on a 60 and had carts covered parts - one group was powdered black, another silver, some just polished. I was blown away. Dugan held up a small bracket - it was kinda greasy, maybe a touch of surface rust - and said "Would you put that back on like that?" I said "Uh... no....no never... "

That’s standard… right?

20-mile update for you @WoodsTruck - 4.88s are the way to go. I drove mostly on the highway back from ACC; 60-70mph, some in town, i.e., traffic lights, etc. The gears are right. I was afraid it'd be screaming at 70 mph but it wasn't at all. Driving a 39-yr-old lifted mini truck with no ABS or airbags is still what keeps my speed down - not the RPMs.
