You asked - so here's the start of the 40-project. My son, Mattie, and I have been spending a few hours each Sunday working on it. Mostly pulling stuff apart and cleaning. We have the frame sand-blasted and painted and I bought a 60-front axle from FSMatt to do a disc brake conversion. That's about it at this point - I am probably looking to get an ARB locker for the front, that'll be the next purchase. more tk.

Here are a few pix:
As it arrived at the house - the body is 'still' on the trailer.

Bentley the basset lends a paw - well, he slept near us, but was there for moral support.

You have been holding back on us. Not fair.

What is the anticipated completion date? Son's graduation? Leap year? Chinese new year? Son's first child born date? :D:hhmm:

Hijack On -

I'm hoping to be done with mine before Colin get's his driver's license.

ahh, about the same time line as Pappy...

No concrete timeline - I am putting a 2-year projected date - subject to change, pending $$ and son's ability to assist - in the words of Jon - "yeah, that's what I thought when I started..."

Update - I am guessing that my FJ40 Basket Case project and my FJ Cruiser got together and reproduced... I have acquired a 'parts-rig' from Craigslist. It has a better body than my project, and it was reasonable. Non-running engine, but a complete rig with very little rust. I am guessing that after I take the parts I need, there will be a garage sale in the future.

Oooohhhh....

Don't know if you want wheels/tires, but I see some stock steel wheels with tires on craigslist a couple days ago for $500. Couldn't tell if they were for discs or drums, but looked to be a good deal. If I didn't want 16" stock wheels for my 45 I probably would have tried to snatch them up.

Looks good, that is indeed a pretty nice body.

Paul,

Glad to see your project is coming along nicely, at least as quick as mine. :grinpimp: Don't worry though, you will get plenty of "encouragement" from this group.
