I’ve done it before. But like I said, no time to waste.
Right. You’ve already got a new one. Time isn’t being wasted. You said you love your wallet more. They’ll refund you money.

FYI, engine gasket kit for the 1998-2006 80-series is half the price of the 1993-97 engine gasket kit. Same quality, OEM and includes the head gasket.

Very slight differences in head gasket but it doesn't matter or cause any issues.

Cheers

Great tip! 👍

I am considering buying my 2nd Head Gasket kit 04111-66036 from Partsouq. It's considerably cheaper and I've done well in the past buying from there. My question is, any issues with shipping a HG from them to USA? Anybody had a bad experience due to box size, etc.?
I purchased a kit for the head gasket from them , it was original Toyota packageing no damage from shipping. I am In ca. Everything I have purchased from their site has always shown up in good shape

Realize this is moot now but just for posterity, I ordered a valve grind kit (the one @SNLC uses) From partsouq and it arrived less than a week later sandwiched between two pieces of luan and wrapped in about $30 worth of packing tape. Recommend 👍

Got a bent hg from a local dealer. Also got bent miscellaneous gaskets from toyotapartsdeal. This has never happened with partsouq. They would probably strap it on a piece of plywood. Thats how I got mine.
ToyotaPartsDeal is horrible-- stay away

Just an update on the seal and gasket kit situation. Amayama now lists the following...

04111-66030 | 1993-1997 LC | out of production
04111-66036 | 1996-1997 LX450 | $420.59
04111-66061 | [unspecified] | $215.35

This last, we know from @SNLC, being for the 98-06 105, but 80-compatible. FWIW, my order was brilliantly packed, with everything in perfect shape--gaskets included. Do NOT cut tape or cardboard with a pricey blade; there are hidden metal staples below the tape, and also beneath the first layer of cardboard...

It’s a full kit with head gasket. It comes with valve stem seals. Some gaskets are different because it is a coil pack 1fz kit.

Cheers
Quick note confirming this in several respects. Got my 04111-66061 from Amayama, ~$200 cheaper than the LX 450 set. Wound up not using the HG anyway b/c I went with Cometic (I’ll be selling the 105 one). But a few points here. Kit includes valve stem seals (shoulda double-checked @SNLC's post!), so do not order separately ($$) like I did (be selling those too probably). DO order the valve cover/spark plug tube seals separately, b/c the ones in the kit are waaay too small. Gonna set me back a week just to get those seals here…

@jaymar: is the valve cover above the newer version for a coil pack 1FZFE (part number?)?
It appears to be one of the more recent versions with modified covers over the baffle box drain/vent slits/holes.

Nah that's from the 96 LX donor motor. Apparently the coil pack tubes are a lot skinnier...?

OK, AFAIK there were/are a few different versions/supercessions of the valve cover. For example, the valve covers from both a 95 FZJ80 and 97 FZJ80 were identical but both were slightly different (baffle box design) than the valve cover above.

I seem to remember reading something about that on Mud, yeah. I can't even tell you that this v/c is original to the donor engine. No reason to think it's not, but who knows. I can say it didn't look like this when I got it. :)
