Partsouq customs duty cost

You may be subject to Import fees above specific dollar amount: $800 on packages. Partsouq uses FedEx Intl so if you're shipping small, expensive components (like a brake master cylinder) you could be subject to fees. Best to figure that out ahead of time by contacting FedEx or here: Internet Purchases | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

I don't know if it matter or not, but my last order can from DHL.

I’ve found that parts + shipping from Partsouq always beats domestic costs for smallish parts. The shipping is quicker too: usually 2-3 days. A win all around, but I’m not buying large skid plates or wheels. We’re talking wheel bearings, diff bushings, radiator hoses, etc.

No extra ‘hidden’ fees or taxes either.

^^^^

My experience as well. Very reasonable shipping rates on small items and I get them FAST.

Cheap 2 day shipping from half way around the has been my experience. Most of the time I'm amazed they can ship it that cheap so far.

Love me some partsouq—I don’t order everything from them but I do order nearly everything from them. But, yes, shipping for four or five 40-pound wheels is going to be pretty serious....thinking about what a plane ticket for a 200 lb human from UAE to your location would be might help put it in perspective...

It is amazing (to me anyway) how quickly parts can go around the world - Last order from partsoqu arrived in 3 days - Fedx - UAE to Mumbai , then Mumbai to Memphis. Ordered a clutch /flywheel kit for another vehicle - Australia to WV in 4 days via DHL.
I've never had an issue on even more expensive items with import duties, but I assume it is always a possibility depending on how the shipper fills out the paperwork.

For what it is worth I have built a relationship with the local Toyota/Lexus parts guys, and can usually get them to match the online prices for larger items - I prefer to deal local when I can.

That's pretty incredible. My local Toyota dealers will only match each other within the same city, and they're already the same price on everything. They wouldn't even match McGeorge which is just about 100 miles away.

Usually I so Partsouq for determining the proper part number, then note their price (with shipping) and do cost comparisons. ToyotaPartsDeal has been pretty good for me, usually takes about 3 days for processing of the order then shipping is via USPS so can get it within a week. Haven't asked them to price match Partsouq yet, but may try that when buying a more significant part.

That was the good old days.
Dunno what has changed, but the last several orders from PartSouq have been held up in US customs, then charged duty/tariff/tax. The most recent order was $75 merch, $20 S&H, then an additional $46 to get it out of CBP jail.

We even tried 3 different shippers: FedEx, DHL, UPS. Same results.
From now on I will only be ordering non-US parts from them.

Do you buy a lot from overseas a year?

Maybe?
Hadn't occurred to me that CBP was adding up all these $300 orders and that the annual total may have crossed a threshold.

I'll wait and maybe order again in 2021, see how that goes.

I've had some shipping issues also w/PQ. I order a twice a month usually around $500 ea order (no duty fees). Some with MG out of VA, some out UT also, and many places. MG recommends I buy locally, as shipping increases and some new core charges makes for unattractive pricing.

But I don't get duty fee until over $700 or $800 (not sure) in single order.

Most issues I have, has to do with shipper delays of 3 wks (UPS) last order from PQ. PQ has told me, their using my case(s) as example in meeting with UPS. But I've also parts not in stock (after order placed) dropping off order, than shipping cost becomes 25-30% of cost. Fed-x I hate to use, but giving a try this week. DHL I love to use, but they've double shipping this month. I blame COVID on most all above!

I buy from everywhere around the world. But now buying more and more from my local Toyota and Lexus Dealerships. Pay a little more, but get faster. It only takes ordering a few parts not used or shipping issues or delays. And the few pennies saved, end up costing a lot.

$75 order amount and $46 clearing cost- ouch! (60% + combined rate) - Somethings off with that rate and or clearing costs to which PS maybe didn't complete paperwork correctly, check the HTS codes on your paperwork and how your parts were categorized and what exactly they charged you $46 for.

FWIW Import duty on automotive parts is 2.5% only after you have exceeded the maximum allowable $800 De Minimis Exemption ( so free/no duty up to $800).

See Chapter 87 specifically section 8708 (Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles Harmonized Tariff Schedule PDFs

I ordered my heater tees, hoses, clamps, and rear wiper from Partsouq three weeks ago. $124 for parts & $21 for shipping. Received them within a week. No issues whatsoever.

"De minimis provides admission of articles free of duty and of any tax imposed on or by reason of importation, but the aggregate fair retail value in the country of shipment of articles imported by one person on one day and exempted from the payment of duty shall not exceed $800".

Plus, I don't think most of my shipments from foreign countries are even checked, much less entered into a database. I think I've had one or two ever where the customs declaration had actually been removed from the sleeve.

Thanks for the info. The $46 was $19 administration fee to UPS and $27 of tariff. I'll try to decipher the paperwork to figure out why its much more than 2.5%

There's a letter out there, a generic one the Brits use, that you can try to use to avoid the admin fee.

The idea being that you never agreed for them to prepay it for you.

You guys make me want to split my next order up into two. Thanks for that, haha

I’ve placed several orders I’ve the last year or so with no issues. Albeit, they were never more then $200.

This past week I went to place an order and shipping charges had almost tripled. Parts total would have been about a $100 before shipping and all were small parts.

I placed an order with megazip (from the Japan warehouse) instead. It was my first order with them. We’ll see how it goes.
