I usually price show between PS and McG and go with the best deal on cost + shipping. One thing about PS that works for me is I typically like to order parts on Saturday evening after a day of working on a vehicle. If I order from PS on Saturday at 8:00 PM Central, FedEX will deliver the part before noon on Tuesday. Sunday is a business day for PS. That's faster delivery than I can get domestically unless I go to the dealer and the part is at the local Toyota warehouse and eligible for next day delivery. The FedEx route between UAE and Memphis TN has become blazing fast.

Exactly—for my sunroof weatherstripping PS was a couple dollars more than McG and I went with them anyway because I knew it’d arrive several days to several weeks sooner.

I wish McG would show stock—or do they even operate that way—maybe everything’s drop shopped from elsewhere?

the impression I’ve gotten from McGeorge, OEM part source, and Toyota parts deal is they have to order most stuff from a central warehouse then ship it on to me which sometimes takes forever.

I completely understand if the super quick PS international shipping needs to go up in price. It’d be nice if they offered a 7-8 day shipping option at the old (or better prices) though.

Based on one of the posts above it sounds like they didn’t see this shipping increases? Have others?

it was for 4 rubber leaf spring pads totally about $50 and then shipping was almost $40. Adding some other small bits it went to $50. Maybe it’s a holiday season thing? Have others seen this?

From what I've been able to glean from conversations with parts people there are three major parts warehouses:

East Coast
Houston TX
West Coast (The big warehouse)

If a dealer in the Houston TX region needs a part that is only available at one of the coastal warehouses, it usually takes 10 days to transfer from one warehouse to another -- unless the customer wants to pay for expedited shipping. This is how domestic shipments can sometimes be very unpredictable.

I have found a couple of occasions where PS did not have a part in stock and I had to wait some number of days for them to receive the part. For a 100 series that has been rare.

Don't even think about ordering parts for a Tacoma or Tundra (US Domestic built models) from PS unless it is an engine/drivetrain part that is also used in an Int'l version. It is prohibitively expensive.

My past few orders’ shipping costs have seemed in line with previous orders—bulk and weight drive international air shipping costs up very very quickly. Check out shipping for a grille (light and bulky) or a steel rim—aiieeeee!

I need to order some door gaskets. This will be a good time to see if I notice a change. I guess I can look at past orders to see if it changes on a reorder. I may be wrong, but I get the feeling their shipment estimator has learned my address and puts me into an established route category. FedEx shipping is usually the fastest and best deal due to my proximity to Memphis.

I once bought all 5 rear control arms and timing belt components for a 4Runner from PartsOUQ for about $850 (total with shipping) and was tax free.
FedEx is the winner for me. They ship regardless of the size of the package in 3-4 days. I order Saturday night in TX and get it delivered on Wednesday by 11 AM!

What am I doing wrong here? $222 for shipping $40 worth of parts?

Yep, that fixed it. How’d you know to remove the gaskets? @hoser

Maybe?
Hadn't occurred to me that CBP was adding up all these $300 orders and that the annual total may have crossed a threshold.

I'll wait and maybe order again in 2021, see how that goes.
That was the good old days.
Dunno what has changed, but the last several orders from PartSouq have been held up in US customs, then charged duty/tariff/tax. The most recent order was $75 merch, $20 S&H, then an additional $46 to get it out of CBP jail.

We even tried 3 different shippers: FedEx, DHL, UPS. Same results.
From now on I will only be ordering non-US parts from them.
Since the above was posted, a few orders were placed with Partsouq in January and have arrived quickly, with no unusual fees. Dunno what was going wrong in December, but it's good now. :meh:

just wanted to bitch about getting (2) vvt oil control valves from PS, DHL, total with shipping 210$ or so, DHL duty invoice just came, 52$.
domestic prices were 150-175 each. with free shipping and 25% off would have been 255$ all in. gave PS 275. I miss the good old days.

Yep the personal De Minimis exemption got chopped from $800 to Zero along with when tariffs got implemented. It sucks.

I bit the bullet by ordering a starter relay for the Hilux. $110 for the part shipped from Japan and $60 as tax which was later paid totaling to $170. The part is not available in the country as it is for a Diesel Hilux located overseas. Now, in the process of getting Injector O rings for my 4runner and looks like cheaper to order from a Toyota dealer with the 25% off and free shipping.

How did you know you needed to replace the oil control valve? I get an occasional P0021, but I'm not sure if it's just the sensor or the oil control valve (already changed the oil and checked the timing myself).

Depending on where parts ordered from, where parts manufactured (made in), bank foreign currency exchange fee, when tax billed (exchange rate to USD, as of day billed by carrier), shipping cost, fee for billing taxes, etc. I'm see cost of prorated parts increased by 45% to 78%. This is provided, shipping cost pre order, kept below15%.
