parking brake handle (1 Viewer)

My '78 40 is missing the parking brake handle. Did they change over the preceding years? Will an earlier one work?

There are some differences between a very early handle (1965) and a 1978, but I think the earlier one can be made to work. I would seek out the correct one for your truck, as it will have the electrical switch that turns on the brake light if you leave the parking brake slightly engaged. I'm not sure when that feature was introduced.

My guess is the only change 7/70 from the earlier one is addition of a plate for brake light switch.

The brake warning switch appeared first in the 7007 model.

1/75 is when the round bracket the secures the grommet at the first started so would assume that is the date change. Cable and lever it attaches to changed 3/76. Believe I read the end on the cable was different.
