I am looking for examples of Mulata red fj55s. I am thinking about respraying my 1971 in this color. I have done alot of body work on mine and cut out alot of rust holes and at this point I am thinking I have a good opportunity to repaint it. Its never going to be super original because I welded in bob M rockers and patched the pans. It also has a 2f and 4 speed engine out of a 1976 so Its not original by any means.

If not the red I also like the classic rustic green.

Thanks.

Take a look in this thread. FWIW I found this thread when I searched this forum for Muleta red. Nothing came up when I searched for mulata red. In just generally searching the internet I found it also spelled with two Ts: Muletta.

Thanks! looks like the one @wngrog was Muletta red. I thought it was. I like that color. That 55 is really cool with the snorkel too. I need to go back at find that build thread. He also spelled it the same as i did haha. That 55 was pretty cool. Makes me feel better his was also a rockerless rust bucket. at least from the photos I could see the rockers were gone.

Total turd

No. You spelled it Mulata.

No. You spelled it Mulata.
You are right. whatever though, potato potata. He didn't spell it with two t like you informed me either though. Either way its an od bird color. thats hard to find examples of. Looks like he found a merlot color that looked close.

Just trying to help. It makes a difference when you search if you use the correct spelling. And I had no idea which spelling to use either until I did some searching. Speaking of searching, did you search for "muleta red" in the 40 section? There's dozens of posts. Here's one thread as an example.

I know you are and I do thank you! Yeah I have. I asked the question in the 40 section too. just wanted to compile some photos in a single thread of the color. a little selfish of me. I am trying to get a good idea of how the 55 looks in that color. I really do appreciate the help though.

I can't recall if you ever found an original color code on your VIN plate? I know you were questioning the original brown/tan color at one time.
No vin plate under the hood unfortunately. there is one on the B pillar though. Just no info of color on it. I cant remember but I don't recall any information on the vin plate under the hood of my 1964 fj40 about color either although the spring green was obvious. Might be a earlier 55/ toyota thing or its just missing although I never found a spot where it would be mounted either. Probably why other people I have talked to about the color have had similar issues with finding the color.
