I vote black.

If you were going with the hard top instead of the soft top I would say definitely white here is my 84 beige with white bezel white roof and white wheels

Here is my other Toy 82 Chili Pepper Red pearl soft top with black bezel, white wouldn't look as good

IMO, painting the bezel the same color as the Dune Beige looks terrible...I should know, I have a newly purchased Dune Beige 75 FJ with the bezel painted the same color and it sucks bigtime. They managed to paint the bezel, top, hardware and the rest of the car beige.

I'm surprised they didn't paint the friggin' bumpers and windshield wipers beige as well.

If you have a black soft top, go with black for the bezel, otherwise, go with the stock look, it's classic and works well.

mine was painted black by PO, i painted it white.............:D
my fj40 has been at paint for 7 weeks next tueday, but who's counting.........ME:eek::eek:
hope i get it back next FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!:steer::steer:

ps--will be painted dune beige of course.............i think the color is is now is darker than dune beige

tell your paint guy you are paying for his skills not his opinion, dune beige would be a mistake. dx379 ended this discussion when he posted that pic with the upside down beige bezel look how nasty that looks.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Right now dune beige is out of the picture - so it is either white or black. Everyone makes a very good case :)

Luvmud - I am painting the hinges black, not the whole windshield frame.

Hmm, this is tough. My gf LOVES that chili pepper red and thinks I should have chosen it instead of the dune beige. If I chose that, then black bezel definitely would have been the best choice. But, I like the dune beige so her vote goes out the window ;)

GF's come and go. Cruisers are forever.

I vote white. I missed the year of your Cruiser, but early 40's white was Shell Ivory, not Cygnus. Just to throw a:wrench: into the mix, there is always chrome too:grinpimp:. Good luck with your decision.

I painted mine black because it was getting some surface rust isolated to the bezel and I had black paint on hand and I wanted it painted before they started putting salt on the roads but when I get around to painting my rig right I'm going dune beige with a white bezel. As mentioned above nothing says landcruiser like a white bezel.

Thanks.. I like the chili pepper red. It's a metallic color, that sometimes looks red, and other times looks burgundy. Here's a sunset pic..

That said... there's not much stock or original about my rig. It's a 1971 FJ40 with an SBC 350 engine, TH400 auto transmission, power steering, Wilwood front disc brakes, and a custom rear bumper with Heep-y tailights.

Of the stock colors, DUNE BEIGE is my fav. I'd go with white against that color. Black would be a nice contrast too.. but white is definitely more "original".

My question is.. why'd you even ask the GF her opinion?
