Finally got this installed. Mounted my Fire tablet and magnet mount for my phone. Tried the Ram X mount for my phone, but hated it since I couldn't do it one handed. Used the Ram magnet base as a phone holder. Works great.

Can you tell us more about the magnetic mount? I hate the X mount too.

It's just a Ram magnet mount for sticking something to the side of your vehicle. It's a round mount that has 3 rare earth magnets inside of a rubber coating. I have a metal plate stuck in the phone case from another magnet mount I used to have.

Here's an amazon link to the Ram Magnet Mount

great thread. Def looking into buying one in the future

@Ramathorn15 any news on when these will be available again?

Mr. Young. Your layout was genius. I copied your exact set up... why mess with perfection! I'm super pumped with the layout and the quality of the Owl Mount. You better believe I installed the Owl sticker on the dash for everyone to see! If you haven't done this accessory you are missing out. Get yourself the owl mount now! Fyi... all OEM buttons and dials are accessible with this set up! No affiliation with Owl, I'm just a satisfied customer.
Cheers fellow mudders.

My media mount is on the way but still deciding between Mr Young's layout vs the RAM ball style mounts. Have you taken the smallrig setup off roading at all? Curious if it holds steady over washboard and rougher terrain.

Now more than a year on I still really like he smallrig building blocks much more than the RAM stuff. I've even put it on another truck using a different mounting method--because I did not need the plate for my 98. Here's the writeup on that. On that one I may replace the rod with a taller one as the phone is mounted a bit low, but that's the thing I love about the components--you can change your mind and add or subtract more bits.

On the Lexus, in practice, I have not used the tablet mounting. I've been considering removing that part and just using the phone mount, but again, it is really simple to move things around.

And hey, the smallrig parts are cheap compared to the RAM components it seems to me. Maybe give both a try and see which you prefer?

with the Mr. Young set up you can put pressure against the dash when wheeling. This creates another point of contact and stops all vibration. Washboards and hard wheeling have no impact on this mount setup.

Joe Bob is spot on--I should have mentioned it. I do that with my phone and it makes everything still. You kind of torque it against the edge of the dash giving, in essence, two points of attachment. I will try to take a photo in the next couple of days to illustrate.

Working on pulling the tape deck out of my 2007 LX. Anyone know what this last cable is for? This doesn't seem to exist in older models (like in the instructions for the media mount). I haven't wanted to pull too hard on it. It doesn't easily pull out like the one below it. I think I can finish this mod with this cable attached but it leaves little room and it's not ideal. I wonder if it's related to satellite? Any ideas?

There are two antennas. The small one is for the one in the rear passenger side glass.

I still need to order this. Do we know what is the ETA on when this will be in stock?

I literally sold the last two this morning! I've added them back to the inventory. They're a few weeks out, but you can buy now and get delivered later, when they're ready. Thanks.

Here is my setup. I have a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 GPS, with Torque Pro and Gaia installed. The holder for the Tab A is the Ram 8", and it fits perfect. It looks like it overhangs the passenger seat, it does not. I also installed a wireless charger for my phone.

Overall, great product, @Ramathorn15, and I highly recommend!
