As the season approaches, moar work done. My friend offered to use his lift for some work and i said HELL YES!!.
Dragged my shyt out to Ashland and swapped to some new SORD front springs. (rec by Justin Reese)
We also did some Raptor liner to the bed in lieu of my old rubber mat(47lbs)

and then, in typical fashion, my fuel level sender broke...... Might have been caused by "spring comparo tests" doh

And you thought i was done fûcking with Diamonds bullshyt.
This twin stick thing has been bugging the shyt out of me this entire time.
How are you going to build a toyota twin stick and have SAE threads......... Plus these sticks were waaay long.
I needed to turn these shafts down a touch, but they're bent already and i didn't really want to fight trying to chuck these in a real lathe.
So i "made" one and got creative.
Its not perfect but i got them down enough to get a die on there..... I think.

Anyway.

I also finally installed the vent plug. Tomorrow I will replace the pivot bolt and add a couple o-rings to it.
I managed to destroy the shytty inner boot in the process, or maybe last time. Idk

Either way, i found it online without having to call and deal with this particular clown shoe. Turns out its simply a modified D18 boot.

Threading went better than expected. Timewise i should have cut a bolt and welded it on there. Lol

As mentioned, i added a chamfer and a couple of o-rings to a replacement pivot bolt that runs through instead of threads through one side. Tweaked the sticks to get them as close as possible.

Of course Marlin is out of stock on new shift knobs. they still took my money of course..
New boot will be here monday.
Pics.

Nice work!

Well to no surprise, the boot is NOT a D18 boot. Or maybe it is just a super duper ultra shytty china copy. Idk
Needless to say, it was not plug and play. I had to open up the retaining plate by .25" ish.
The plus side of this mod is now said plate fits over the sticks and im not trying to tetris this prick together. The new boot is much beefier as well.
So pics

Looks good!

When the new front springs went in, i noticed that the clamps looked awful close to the draglink...
Turns out, yes.

The drag link is/was dragging on the clamps. It appears that grinding should be enough on the passenger side.
The driver side clamp got cut at the bottom of the bolt hole and im welding a strap across the top.

Quick fix.
Sorry that second pic sucks... I tried two moar and they were shyt too. Just moar boring carbide work.

Got some seat time yesterday.
These new front springs are much better than the old clapped out RUFs.
They have significantly more compression and are way more stable on road.
Not many pics. Just two dudes and two trucks, lots of dead ends.
Buddy's truck is a dbl cab swapped onto an xtra cab frame. 5spd, elocker/arb, armor.

Leaf springs are so old tech but so simple/practical. Quality is definitely reflected in the ride.. Cool to see the improvements you keep doing on this rig.
