For daily driving especially on back roads of Honduras I strongly recommend going with Old Man Emu springs, and running a 32in tire. You won't have any rubbing issues and you will have a bit more ground clearance but at the same time very drivable.

The problem is we have IFS in front and not a solid axle. So I'm afraid a lift is just gonna put a strain on the front cv axles. Maybe just 32's and no lift?

Was thinking given the age and constant rough terrain I should change out the body mounts. Found these with a quick search. http://4x4autoworks.com/i-18332545-...unt-set.html?gclid=CNPG1IGbw8ACFZJr7AodU00Aqw

Any other suggestions or experience with others?

That is not a problem as long as you don't lift more than 3in. I have a lifted ifs 4runner and a solid axle FJ45. I'm recommending the OME springs based on the longevity and harsh road conditions. You order the springs based on the additional constant weight you will be carrying (winch, bumpers, bags of coffee). They also have a spring rate setup for no additional weight as well.

And she will be under constant weight. What's your suggestion for the IFS lift?

Thanks! -Daniel Kent

With holes in the OEM bumpers, I'm assuming I should just scrap them or would someone need/want them?

Holes in the front and crease in the rear.

Just ordered front bumper frame weld-on support and Tuffy console! Likely ordering Softopper tomorrow :D :D :D

Thinking about going with a Grant steering wheel and anti theft removal kit. Steering wheel is 13". Is that a good size, any thoughts, experiences? Thanks MUD!

I just talked with Can-Back about their soft top. They informed me they wouldn't have one for the 4Runner till next spring at the earliest!!! Guess I'm going with Softopper.

Too bad...love the Can-Back, hate the soft topper...have you been using Search Tempest for a used Can Back?

Didn't know that search engine existed! Just searched and sadly nothing. :( I have talked with Killertoytops and they seem like a good option and defiantly better than Softopper from what I know.

Eventually when we repaint I'm thinking of a color like this.

Nice. I have those same wheels. About the pull the trigger on a set of DuraTracs for them.

I highly suggest you stick to the factory color, unless you are pulling EVERYTHING out. Engine, everything, down to an empty body. Otherwise, it will always look crappy, you will keep finding the old color.

I was thinking the same thing on the paint color. They will in Honduras strip the whole thing to paint it for pretty cheap. However I still may go original white.

Started taking off bumpers and side steps today. What should I do with these holes, weld them?

I'd stick with the white paint, switching to something darker will look really obvious unless you get really detailed. As far as the OME springs the mediums should do great. If it were a pickup that was going to be hauling really heavy thing constantly I'd recommend the heavies. The OME suspension will appreciably improve your ride quality as well as soaking up a lot of the abuse bad roads will inflict on Pepe. It will look great with 31s and an OME suspension, no need to switch to bigger llantas, they'll just stress other components more (and make you want lower ring and pinion for what you're doing).
I had a 13" Grant wheel in one of my trucks and it was sort of small, proper hot rod size but small on a truck (a few inches less in steering wheel diameter makes a lot more turning off road).

Did that truck have a plow or something on the front at some point? Some odd brackets/extensions on that front crossmember, they don't belong.

Those holes will be tough to fill. Maybe the body shop has some ideas.

I agree on the paint. We will be treating this very much like a truck. Pepe will double as a family wagon and work truck so should probably go with heavies. Still sticking with 31 KM2's. Maybe I'll split the difference and go with a 14" Grant, since stock is a 15". Thanks for the feedback!

I'm not sure what they used those tabs for. I'm gonna have to cut those off so I can weld on the front winch support frame. I'll ask the body shop about the holes when I get to that point I guess.
