I have daily driven this truck for the last two+ years. The turbo is tuned to not smoke, but to provide good useable boost while maintaining the engine's legendary longevity. EGT, Boost, water temp, and RPM gauges have been added to monitor engine performance. I'm selling to get a pickup truck that better fits my current needs (hauling my mountain bikes and home crap). Interesting deals/trades possible (70 series pickups, Toyota Tundras, Tacomas, plus cash).

Asking $35k. Open to trade for a 4x4 Tundra Double Cab (Limited, Platinum, TRD) or similar Tacoma.
Located in Austin, TX

Thanks,
David

Some updated pics. I finished the grey dash conversion and installed a new wireless carplay capable stereo. Looks really clean. Needs a new clam shell in these pics.

Dave, happy to help. Seeing how good she looks now is just AWESOME.

This is a really nice rig! It's probably out of my budget and too far away, but mildly tempting. I don't know a whole lot about the 1HZ. Sounds like it has a timing belt and is indirect injection? I've never had a diesel. I don't think those came with turbos, or am I mistaken?

Would it be possible to install 3rd row seats?

How is the crawl speed down a hill? I know in a gasser, you can have it in first, 4Low, and it'll be a very slow descent down the hill without having to use the brakes. No throttle plate on a diesel, but the compression is also higher.

Yep, timing belt (new one installed) and is IDI. I added the Holset turbo to it since it was normally aspirated.

No attachment points for 3rd row in this rig, but I'm sure that can be easily added.

Yes, in 4Lo it can crawl and use engine braking to descend down a hill like a gasser.

She does 65-70 with ease and isn't loud. I lined the interior with Fatmat and a new vinyl carpet which helps. This isn't my old 4BT powered 80.

Thanks for all the info. Couple more questions.

What gas mileage are you getting? How large is the main and sub tank?

What do you think about the barn doors vs the hatch/tailgate setup?

I think I'm leaning towards an 80 with the 1HZ + 5 speed, or a 80 with the 3FE + some kind of manual. The 1HZ route is a lot more expensive, but also appealing. Lots of advantages to diesels with relatively few drawbacks.

I read through your build thread (but not the previous one). Pretty excellent work you did. Sounds like it's running really well.

Just an FYI to the new owner, you can still get that steering wheel. It’s not terribly expensive. That one is smooth from many years and a new one will have nice grip and texture again. Would finish off that dash nicely.

Cheers
